This is why, if we don't have a successful year -- and it's way too early to say we won't after just two games -- I think Holmgren is a must. He's coached Romo's idol Favre and he has the skins on the wall to get Romo's attention.

Bottom line, if we fail this year the future has to be all about salvaging Tony Romo, because we're only going to go as far as he takes us. And it will take a new voice -- four more years of Garrett won't work.

It's all about accountability. One of his peers needs to step up and let him know that horrible decisions are killing this team. Unfortunatly no one could last night since they all played like ****.

Would love for Barber to speak up and light a fire under Tony Romo's *** but that ain't happening. Would love for a coach to but that ain't happening.

They are 2-0 and have Tampa, Kansas City and Oakland on deck to get tuned up in. They're about to start 5-0 with 2 divisional wins, what is there to be worried about?

Their inability to stop the run.

Did you see Tampa run on us and Oakland yesterday? It may not be as simple as you make it out to be.

I'm not sure how Tampa did yesterday, but I think Oakland may be a much improved team. Perhaps the Bucs as well.

We:

Had four turnover's
Gave up 400+ yards
Couldn't stop supposedly weak receivers
Had no pass rush
Had tons of mental mistakes
Had only 4 penalties, but each were critical mistakes at terrible times
Were outcoached

Yet we only lost by 2 in the waning seconds.

Giants need to be worried as well.

The Giants don't need to be worried about anything. They got a W. It's not about how you look doing it.

They gave up 250+ yards rushing! Most in the first half before Tuck got hurt. They also had no sacks.

A win by only two points when you get +4 turnovers would have me worried.

That was in December. He probably expected us to get hammered in that one.

I was listening to NY radio for a while and I'll tell you they are worried. Both their lines got dominated and they squeeked out a win even after multiple turnovers and Romo having an attrocious game. The difference is Eli. The guy was cool in the 2 minute drill and he led his team down the field with the game on the line. I give him credit as well.

Don't know about you guys but if my teammate said something to me or one of my friends I would really take it to heart. Sometimes just hearing it from people that you don't want to let down is the most sobering.

One game is a sure indication that they can't stop the run. How did Dallas stop the run last night? How did NYG stop the Commanders from running? The Cowboys just happened to outplay the Giants in that aspect of the game last night, that doesn't prove anything just yet. The Giants are way better than Oakland, the Bucs and the Chiefs. They aren't Dallas, they won't lose to teams they thoroughly outplay and they will thoroughly outplay all three.

I'd rather have Shanahan. He's still hungry and Holmgren is not. You get Holmgren you're getting another Parcells. Someone with the name but not the desire. That's what I saw while Parcells was here. We had plenty of games with no urgency when he was coaching here. Holmgren will be the same day.

Tony has plenty of fire. What he has to get through his head is the last thing Parcells told him: You can't turn the ball over, son. You just can't do it and win.

A Barber can't do that. It has to come from his coaches. And Holmgren is one of the few guys who has that credibility. Sometimes Tony acts like Jason is a peer of his, not a superior... That wouldn't be the case with Holmgren.

Shanahan might be the same way, I just think his line schemes don't work well with our personnel.

I was so hung over Saturday morning. I spent friday night going from bar to bar getting loaded and then pretending to be a homeless person in stacks of cardboard along the street to get people to take pictures with me.

Eventually I ended up in some sort of clothing line release party where there was free beer, and amazingly few clothes. Then I had to run my *** off Saturday morning. Death was coming.

Sunday night was much worse than that.

I guess I am not for Holmgren because he didn't seem to want to coach or have the desire to coach anymore with the retirement/unretirement thing. I don't want a coach who is half into it. I want a coach that is still around the game and is hungry to get back into coaching. I read somewhere Shanahan was invited to someone's training camp for a day or two. I haven't heard anything from Holmgren since the end of last year.

I understand you, believe me. I've said before that I think this job is incredibly stressful and you can see how much it's drained our last two 60+ year old coaches.

I guess I don't think Holmgren is finished yet, though. He sounded to me like he was regretting the decision to retire even before last year was over, but went through with it because he'd promised his wife he would. Maybe with a year off, he'll be refreshed.

I usually agree with Lab, but he and I disagree on Garrett. We may end up agreeing on Garrett's possibilities as a head coach here, but I'm not sure we agree on the reason.

In my opinion Jerry Jones has ruined any real chance of Jason Garrett being a good head coach in Dallas by making him the #2. I still believe he will end up being a good head coach SOMEWHERE. But you bring a guy in, call him assistant head coach, and make him the #2 guy.

Now, if the head coach isn't really competent to do the job, but Garrett is outstanding, and the end result is TEAM SUCCESS then you always leave the impression that the head guy is doing a good job, thus you keep an incompetent man at the top.

If the head coach is incompetent to the degree that the whole team is brought down, including Garrett, and Garrett is really pretty good in his own right, then you make Garrett look bad due to the incompetent head coach and Garrett has no credibility to take over.

In other words, Garrett is cooked as a head coach in Dallas either way you go. (Just for the sake of argument, assuming he is actually doing a good job in his own right)

If he makes Wade look good, then Garrett doesn't get promoted. If the team looks bad, due to Wade (and it really isn't Garrett's fault), then Garrett still looks bad in the public eye and never gets promoted.

I just think Jerry Jones' way of approaching this was pretty stupid.
