If he's back, and playing at a level similar to the level he played at when he went out, he really couldn't come at a better time, with GB and ATL (I think) on the horizon. He's a big upgrade over #23, anyway, no matter how you slice it.

We won't ever build a defense around Mo (and you really shouldn't around a corner period).

But there was a period here where people poo poo'd Lee and for good reason. But here he is a first team All Pro. If we can get Mo on a moderate or prove it deal. It's probably smart to bet on youth and talent.

There's a number where Mo makes sense. If we do bring him back, it should be with a reasonable term or a team option for at least a few years and not another one year flier. Most of Mo's problems have been soft-tissue variety injuries. It's really tough for anybody to know what to do with that. But he's in his prime, and he's at least demonstrated recently the ability to play at a high level. He's a tough call.

I think he wants to be in Dallas, though, if he has a preference. It'll all depend on whether another team wants to take a risk on him. I would think we'd be in pretty good position to get something done if we want him.

Agreed. It makes no sense to give up on a guy that young with his talent (not top 6 worthy probably but hey we already bought that cow).

I honestly think this is where The Star and our player friendly environment gives us a small edge in free agency. Nobody in Mo's position is turning down a ton of guaranteed cash but if it's close and we were maybe a little under...I think we havae an edge on every team in football. Not to mention this team is viewed as one that is ascending.

Good times.

Morris Claiborne’s Return Comes at the Perfect Time

http://thelandryhat.com/2017/01/11/morris-claibornes-return-perfect-time-dallas-cowboys/

The Dallas Cowboys are getting their best cornerback, Morris Claiborne, back on the field, and it could not have come at a more perfect time.
He was playing the best football of his life when he went down with a groin injury against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 30th. As his luck seems to have gone since he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, as soon as cornerback Morris Claiborne‘s game arrived, he was lost for the remainder of the regular season.

It was an injury that was supposed to crush Dallas’ defense because Claiborne was finally living up to his lofty draft status. The veteran was leading the way in the secondary, helping a maligned unit to a surprisingly solid start to the year. With five pass breakups and one interception through six games, Claiborne was playing with the confidence and swagger he hadn’t shown much of as a pro.

Thankfully for the Cowboys, Claiborne appears set to return in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and it could not have come at a better time. The Green Bay Packers are riding into town with the hottest quarterback in the league, Aaron Rodgers. Even if wide receiver Jordy Nelson doesn’t play, Rodgers has plenty of options to challenge the secondary of the Cowboys.

That’s why getting Claiborne back is so important. Dallas has been playing with three good corners for most of the year, along with Claiborne they have talented rookie Anthony Brown, Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick, but they haven’t all played together since week two, when Brown wasn’t seeing many snaps. Now that all four are healthy and ready to go, the Cowboys should be able to match-up with Rodgers’ weapons in the passing game...
I'm proud of Mo, he's been through so much bs and had such horrible luck with injuries, takes a special kind of person to keep getting up after being knocked down so many times. I think it's made him a stronger person and you could see it in his play this year...made tackles with authority, didn't back down...I see someone playing with confidence, after he seemed almost tentative and nervous in previous years.

The struggles he had prior to this season were due to injuries keeping him off the practice field and out of games. Tough game to return for having to face Aaron Rodgers. I'm just hoping Mo is 100% and we're not just throwing him out there because it's down to do or die. We did that with Terry Glenn back in 07 during the playoffs and he was awful, couldn't even run a route without falling down.

Glenn had age working against him too. Mo is young in comparison.

Hopefully adding Claiborne can offset the pass rush we'll lose without Gregory. I thought Gregory was playing nicely and formed a good 3-man line with Collins and Irving. Oh well.
I feel like Gregory, even being sackless for his career, would've chased down a gimpy Aaron Rodgers in 2014

Personally, I thought his injury in 2014 was the end of him remaining a Cowboy over the long term. But he has responded in a way that most of us likely could not foresee. He was tremendous over the first half of the season...fearless even. You can't help but root for guy who gets knocked down, only to get back up and prove himself.

I imagine Mo will get another 1 year deal with us.

I don't see any team giving him a big deal.

I'm certain we're all hopeful that Claiborne's return will be successful and productive. If he able to return at anything resembling his former capabilities, the Cowboys should benefit handsomely from his performance. If not, I would assume his participation would be fairly limited. He will be carefully monitored by the defensive staff to ensure that the most helpful contributions are forthcoming. If Morris is physically incapable of performing effectively, I'm inclined to believe they'd seriously consider replacing him with Anthony Brown.

This guy is way over rated around here
He's an average CB who is not very intelligent and has a so so work ethic and is constantly hurt. So he played good for a few games this year. Color me unimpressed.
He hasn't proven that he can even stay on the field consistently let alone play at s high level

If he signs a one year deal or an incentive laden deal I'm on board
Otherwise sayonara

I'm sure the team/Mo have been doing everything they can to get him ready for some action. Give him a few plays to get back into the swing of things and he should be rolling. Have some confidence guys!

Claiborne most likely won't get thrown to the wolves. He'll have a deep secondary around him to help. Our secondary is deeper than the Packers wr's. They have what 3, and a rookie wr who is an unknown.
