Mort says Chargers are dangling Cromartie for a RB

I wanted Dallas to take him and not Carpenter in the draft, but now I not sure I would trade any of our RB's for him.

Your crazy.

I wouldnt do it either. We're in good shape with our top 3 CB's. Cromartie is a dog. And he's an awful tackler, so I doubt he can play FS fulltime either. He'd be a waste here.

Something's wrong when a team is trying to trade a young corner entering his prime who has the size and unbelievable talent that Antonio has.

Corners with that kind of ability don't come along very often.

He must have some ridiculous issues.

Maybe he's a moron ?

Can he play Safety?
No he can't, but some people were discussing moving one of our current corners, probably T-New, to FS and plugging Cromartie in as a CB. I personally don't know how big of a difference it is to play FS compared to CB, but if T-New has more opportunities to roam the field and play the ball then I'm all for it as long as Cromartie can be as good or better than T-New was covering man-to-man. The only thing I worry with this T-New @ FS scenario is that I don't think he's bulky enough to play safety and make all those hits that he's going to have to make. Iono, what do ya'll think of Cromartie for either Barber or Choice; Cromartie starting CB opposite Jenkins and T-New @ FS?

Trade Barber for Cromartie, then trade him and our first round draft choice to Tampa (they're want out of that 3rd. spot), and draft Eric Berry... i know, i know... jeje

With LaDainian Tomlinson's career in San Diego declared all but over and Darren Sproles facing free agency, the Chargers are exploring possible trade scenarios that include dealing cornerback Antonio Cromartie to acquire a running back, according to league sources.

Cromartie is a four-year starter, a former first-round draft pick and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he intercepted 10 passes. Sources have said he has fallen out of favor with the Chargers, who also have a pair of corners in Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason that were first-round picks.

The Chargers' most pressing offseason need is in the offensive backfield. Tomlinson declared shortly after the season that he believed his nine-year career with the Chargers is finished. He expects to be released shortly. Sproles is a pending restricted free agent who would be due $7.3 million in 2010 if the Chargers tender him a contract, a 10 percent increase over his 2009 franchise-tag salary of $6.67 million. Sproles has said he intends to test the market but expressed a preference to remain in San Diego.

Among the teams that have running back depth are the Dallas Cowboys with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice at the position. Several teams are looking for cornerback depth, including the Green Bay Packers, sources said.

The Chargers may be willing to trade Cromartie for a draft choice that could give them more flexibility to select at least one running back in this year's draft, sources said.

FS is in coverage most of the time.
If he were an SS I'd say no way, but he would ball at FS. Either way, he's an upgrade over Hamlin.

I's say if they're down to trade Barber for Cromartie straight out do it.
Besides, we have leaders in the locker room now, Keith Brooking would be on his butt in an instant.

Cromartie has elite talent, though he still looks raw. Probably more than any of our DBs have. But you know that he's a mess either off the field or in the lockerroom (or both) if the Chargers are actively trying to dump him. Especially considering how easy it is to find an RB, but how tough it is to find true talent at CB.

exactly. CBs are probably the 3rd or 4th most important positoin on any team and 2nd most important positon on defense. they are in high demand and can change how a defense plays and improves over all. so if cromartie is all that why trade him? for a RB, which can easily be had in a draft.

this is a bad sign. unless SD is willing to throw in some draft picks as well.

plus cromartie seems to have lost what ever mojo he had.

In each of the past two seasons we've had 2 of our 3 RBs injured in multiple games. At least 1 of the 3 was either out or seriously limited in most of our games.

We have needed all three guys in each of the past two seasons.....yet we still have thread after thread suggesting we either cut or trade one of them.

yea no thanks. after reading he has like 7 kids in 5 different states...this guy is a mess. He also has like 4 paternity suites going on and admits its a distraction. No wonder SD is trying to unload this guy. I wouldnt be suprised if they just release him.
