Stoops and Meyer have the same chance at being successful NFL coaches as I do, in other words, NONE. Both of them would be royal flops in the NFL and set any franchise back years IMO, especially Meyer.

I don't think Jerry will even look at a college coach, but if he did I'd bet it would be a Pete Carroll, Butch Davis or Dave Wannstedt before anyone else. Wannstedt and Davis might be tough sells to the fan base but all three have NFL coaching experience. Carroll might be ready to leave USC and he has a lot of NFL ties as well as 3-4 defense expertise.

Heimeldinger is the guy who designed the Ten offense with CJ in mind, but i see your point.

The beauty of the Tennessee offense is how simple and old-school it is. They aren't in the shotgun a billion times a game.

I'd love to get Fisher here... He'd probably be my #1 choice. But I'm not going to get my hopes up.

And Davis, Wannsedt, or Carroll? *shoots self*

Jerry is not stupid enough to hire Stoops, I hope.

Like Wade was a great hire?
Like Swoops has no track record?
There is an axiom in NFL football. College coaches won't do well in the NFL.
Any knowledgeable observer of football knows this to be untrue.
It comes down to the coach himself, the staff he picks and how quickly he can adapt to the NFL game.
So, please, ever one, quit coming up with this outdateded and foolish axiom (which is untrue) and let's quit bypassing great coaches because of this sophomoric thinking.

Fisher tends to get more with less instead of the usual vice versa.

That's what I don't get.

Why does Fisher's name keep coming up when he's locked in at Tennessee ?

Mort is just throwing **** against the wall at this point. He said so himself on ESPN radio a day or two ago, although he has more info than we do so you can say its an educated guess.

Of course. Why would Jerry indicate to anyone, much less someone in the media, who he'd like to have as a head coach next season if this season doesn't work out? You know Jerry is focused 100% on doing something THIS season.

This is a guy that was hesitant to pull Bledsoe for Romo, because he thought it would be considered giving up on the season, even if everyone and their dog knew the season was over if Bledsoe remained QB.

Not supporting one way or another about Fisher, but I thought I had heard somewhere that the Titan's management had done something that opened a loophole for Fisher to leave if he chose to do so.

If he can get out he will. Fisher I mean. This guy has never had a franchise QB and has done a fantastic job of coaching.

Fisher was made for the NFC East. Tough.

I wouldn't rule out Urban either. This guy can coach. He is always learning from the likes of Jimmy and Belichek.

Jerry can't get some no-name coach. He's going to be going against the likes of Coughlin, Reid, and most likely Shanny. Those are three stout coaching staffs. Between them is 3 superbowl wins, 1 superbowl appearance, countless championship games, yadda, yadda.

I'm not giving up on this season, but we still need a toughness to this team. Not a coach that is a dictator ie. Bill, but a guy the team will want to play like there head coaches demeanor. Hopefully we will make the playoffs, but regardless this team needs a change in mentality, and a few roster changes.

Eh, we'll beat the Saints, win a playoff game or two and Wade will be back.

If this is the case, I wouldn't hate it, so long as Campo is gone as DB Coach.

What about Zimmer? Does he have a personality flaw that I'm unaware of?

Never said I wanted them either, but that if Jones was going to look at a college coach (and I dont think he would) that it would be mroe likely to be someone with NFL experience.

I actually think Carroll might do well if he inherited a pretty good team and was able to get the coaches he wants.

I wouldnt be surprised if Jones talked to Zimmer, he's always liked him.

I think we all know that Zimmer doesnt like the 3-4 defense though, Parcells made alot of pointed remarks about it when we switched schemes, and he was clearly talking about Zimmer not being excited about it. IMO though thats more of a knock on Parcells in not bringing in someone with the expertise that was needed more than Zimmer.

Zimmer could be one of those people that ends up being a better HC than ccordinator or assistant. I think Garrett might fall in that group too.

Jeff Fisher will never coach in Dallas.

He suffers from acute Newtongravitophobia or "the fear of falling objects".

Is that good news or bad news?

How could getting to the playoffs and winning there be bad news?

I dont think its going to happen, but if it did that wouldnt be "bad news"

Jimmy and Barry are the ONLY two college coaches to win a NC and SB. In the last 30 years show me ANY major college HC's that have become successful HC's in the NFL.
