I like Osa quite a bit another solid McClay pick but I’m floored by that price tag . Where did Mosher come up with that figure 20 m per ?

I’m sure he’s just looking at recent DTs in free agency compared to OSA. Wilkins and Hargreaves are both similar to osa in terms of pass rush numbers so their contracts will likely be a starting point for osa negotiations.

Osa is the type of player you have to be prepared to move on from in today's NFL. He's not special. He's not even very good. It'd be another Terence Steele type signing.
Nope, he is the type player that it actually pays to go ahead and resign and not field a bunch of gambles.

I've said many times nfl thinks higher of osa than fans. Armstrong got 11 per year. Osa is easily a better player than him. And no I don't care about the difference in position. The point stands. Osa will be coveted by many teams that don't share the collective genius of cowboyszone
I like Osa, but I think he's good, not great. He'll get paid like he's great. I'd prefer we keep looking for the great player that you need in a 4-3 at the 3-tech spot.

Guys, listen to stillguru when he’s talking. You don’t get that type of NFL insider information without working as an Uber driver for the past 10 years.

Other than a top ten pick, It typically takes years to develop a good DT in the NFL. Any replacement at that position would be a downgrade.

One of the greatest issues the Cowboys have faced the past decade has been their inability to keep their lines deep. Their frontline guys have been pretty good but when they go down, the decrease in talent is significant. It would be great to back up the DT starters with a high draft pick like we see at DE

You can never have too many good DT's. However, their average career length tends to be shorter than other positions. This is the reason you see the hefty price tag.

That seems a little rich for Osa......... I would love to keep him but $10-15M range. IF he is resigned, you can take DT off your board for our 1st round pick. No way Jerry's doing both.....especially with Mazi being a 1st rounder.

I want to retain our best players, the problem with this franchise is handing out bad 2nd contracts.

2nd contracts should only be handed out to deserving players that you know are loyal to the game, they have been properly evaluate and have proven to remain, then they get paid.

There has to be a better way to process the data on who is deserving of extensions and new contracts because the horrible decisions keep setting this franchise back even further.

Never thought I would see the day that a 4th round investment could cripple a franchise like we are witnessing, but it is truth and not even the biggest Dak supporters can argue it anymore if they have any true virtue at all.

Jerry crapped the bed when he gave Dak that deal, he buried this franchise for years.

That's why nobody has a real plan if he leaves if you notice. I guess draft a rookie savior.

I like Osa but don't feel like he's the dominant force he's being sold as. Where was he when Micah was out? I get flashbacks to the 9ers game this year (who have a terrible line) and Purdy sitting in the pocket for half an hour. I feel like a lot of Osa's success comes from the attention Parsons draws and we could get similar production from a quality rookie or much cheaper signing (if there were any but the DT market is pretty dry hence the probable Osa overpay).

It sucks to lose quality home grown players but 20 per feels so steep for Osa.
He makes plays in spurts, he will be the top DT in free agency

Not when they play against us it seems
We have two rooks on this OL, the learning curve is steep, and we took a hit to the ribs this year because of it, and Solari needs to be fired asap.

Somebody is going to overpay for Osa if he hits the market. But if we sign him long term he will probably go the Tyrone Crawford way.

Learn from your mistakes and sign Parsons sooner than later.

With Osa, I'd be willing to let him test the market.

if Osa wants to stay and will sign for a reasonable rate, absolutelly bring him back. Reasonable by NFL standards, not Stephen's ridiculous take on contracts.

Add new blood no matter what. Stop with everyone being content and comfortable.
agreed.
but that would require someone making them feel uncomfortable.
and we don't have anyone in our f/o like that.

Remember that $20 million cap carryover? They have is covered. Though he is not worth that much.

Watch who highlights the first quarter, and who doesn't.

I just hope we get one that's actually ready to play football
