Mosher: Thinks Jerry is contemplating a big move/trade on defense

Jerry floats this nonsense every year at TC, just so people are talking about hin like this. And people fall for it every year

ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!

This infantile need for attention. Jerry's ridiculous persona permeates our lockerroom culture.. THATS why you can't just look at names on a piece of paper and expect this great defense to materialize...because this Jerry Reality Show persona does not breed a rugged tough minded team. It breeds what you saw last year. Flashy....and soft. Mouthy when pounding on weaklings....surrender when strong teams push back in big games

ME ME ME ME ME ME!!! Same ole same ole.
JDS.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I'd love nothing more than for them to be aggressive if they believe this team is close.....but we've heard this song before. Until something actually happens, it's just more fuel for social media and the rumor mill.

Vea? Probably not. Crosby? You would have to think they are a player away. I dont even though Crosby is a difference maker.
I’ve seen Vea rumors but I don’t see how that works. He’s 31 and a free agent after the season. So if you traded for him you have to extend him and give up a high pick. Don’t like trading future picks, especially for a 31 year old who only has one year on his contract

What do you think is his trade value?

Maybe it's not a big move It could be a trade like they did a few years ago with Brandon Cooks and Gilmore those are really good additions for not a lot of draft capital and it actually helped so I I'll take any of it A big move a couple of small ones if it's for a position of need maybe even left tackle or something...

Yeah, I don't see a thing happening until after the season starts and it's evident from the team's performance that there are deficiencies that haven't been met. So, looking at schedule, anytime been 3rd - 7th week of the schedule should show him what he needs to see and if a move is necessary. Could be earlier, but that's only if the team really comes out flat vs NYG and WAS

I wouldn’t give a first or second. Not because of the talent but the age and contract. I don’t think they would take any less for him though. We’ve got Dak and lamb who are gonna eat a ton of cap next year and beyond. If he had a couple years on his deal or was a few years younger it might be different. I know cap space you can apply magic dust too but we’ve done that already with some. The saints spent years digging out and we could get in same situation

Adding Crosby or even Sweat to this defense would be transformative.

I think Gary is a quality player but is not the dynamic player Crosby is.

I really like the idea of having proven vet to pair with Eze and Malachi Lawrence.
I think it should be a corner. Your edges now are at least serviceable

To hope he can contribute this year but to act like he is going to get 10 sacks and solidfy the edge is a pipe dream, even if we were picking in the top 5.
Lack of pass rush has been my biggest concern….i didn’t think Gary was a stud (remains to be seen) and I thought Bain at 11 and Thieneman at 23 would give us a better rush and a good (not as good as Downs) safety, vs Downs and Lawrence who people considered a reach. We need safety help, but I think rush makes a bigger difference overall. It’s why I wanted Maxx, and if we didn’t get him, I wanted Bain when he fell to our spot. Top tier end vs safety, I’m taking end. I would be stoked if it turned out Bain and Thieneman….im glad we got downs, but not as excited about Lawrence….dont know much about him, but didn’t have the resume Bain did.

Yea in a perfect world we get Downs and Bain. I knew they were gonna go with Downs because they wanted a coach on the field who can implement Parker’s system and get guys lined up correctly.

Yes, I agree.

I think we are one legit pass rusher away from being an interesting team. That group just has way too many question marks for a serious playoff team. Everyone is basically praying Ezeiruaku shows up and he's good all of a sudden in year two. Gary is a JAG. Barham is a raw rookie. Where is the pass rush coming from if Ezeiruaku doesnt make a huge leap?

Yep, my approach to defensive football is the same as yours. I share both your draft thoughts and opinion of Gary.
Throwing a bunch of average to hopefully above average edge guys together under a new DC and scheme and calling them a good pass rush group don't cut it for me.
Give me at least ONE proven War Daddy at the first line of defense.

And while we're at it Taylor Decker is still sitting on the couch...hint, hint Jerry!
