He's right.

If the nerve was firing, it would be big news. I mean we're not talking about some 4th round pick. Jaylon Smith was arguable the #1 prospect in the entire draft.

Can Jaylon Smith and Sean Lee eventually become the best linebacker tandem in the NFL?

Matt Mosley: Can we maybe see Smith play a preseason game first? I think everyone's getting ahead of themselves over Smith, including Jerry. I haven't heard anyone with a medical background say that nerve in his knee is firing. That's still a huge part of it. The Cowboys have the best rehab guy in the business in Britt Brown. If I hear Britt say at some point the guy's ready, then folks should get excited. As far as I know, Britt hasn't said that to anyone.

REJUVENATION!!!
ANTICIPATION!!!!
ACTUALIZATION!!!

Beyond the injury is the question of whether he can actually play NFL football at a high level. People are acting like it's not just a given that he can play, but a given that he'll instantly be one of the best in the league.

Not as long as kuechley and Davis are playing together.

I'm going to hold off on the anointing til I see him play and play well in a live game.
For all we know now, he still could never play a down.

Why should a doctor need to come out and say the nerve is firing....they don't need to, and it would be bad of them to do so. That would be against doctor patient confidential privilege.
Why should Britt Brown do the same thing....it is not his place to come out and say anything...when was the last time we heard a trainer come out and give a statement...to my knowledge....never....

I do not see any reason why Smith would indicate he is getting ready, only to come TC time and then they put him on PUP again. However, that would not surprise me. Because that is the way this team works at times.

My expectations are still tempered, but also excited he will be ready. Though until he is out there, we can do nothing but wait and see.

Britt Brown, the doctors, and trainers are very seldom quoted. We got some quotes from Cooper during the draft process but since then there has been nothing. Generally speaking we get next to no quotes from them ever. Not having info from them is not indicative of anything.

There is no benefit to his rehab progress having the press involved. They are a lot of self important knobs that would try to start and run it for them, second guessing all the way. It is what they do with any executive positions like coaches, managers, and owners already and it would do Smith no favors.

If his knee and the nerve was firing properly we'd know, everyone within the organisation would be screaming at the top of their lungs ... as of now, there is just a lot of speculation and some cryptic messages. Don't be surprised that this was just another wasted 2nd round pick...and no college player is worth gambling a 2nd round pick on when our defence needed immediate help.

The problem is with Lee. Hes getting old already and another injury lurks just around the corner.
I think he's going to surprise most people and remain mostly free from major injury for the remainder of his career. I'm no doctor, but I have a feeling Lee's knee issues are behind him after recovering from his last major injury. At least I hope so.

no one is allowed to give any detailed info on Smith's knee, other than Smith, and he indicated good news from his DR. If Mosely is waiting for a Dr to have a presser on the status of Smith's knee, he's in for a long wait.
This is exactly why the jokes about "Dr. Jerry" and such are tired, lame, and need to stop. Take a shot at Jerry for other valid things, but don't make up stupid stuff.
