Yes, frequently we meet this description. That doesn't change the possibility that Mosley might write with an agenda.

That said, Mosley (and the rest of us) should be skeptical until the product on the field is demonstrated. We could start out gang busters and I'll still remain skeptical until I see some strong play in December. This team is full of question marks at this point.....and those questions will remain until we can finish with some strength. How many bad adjectives were used at the end of last season.....dysfunctional, undisciplined, lack-of-heart, poor depth, bad special teams, etc. I haven't forgotten.....and neither has Matt Mosley.
Very well put.

In a timing system you have to know someone's speed and tendencies. If Roy Williams ran to a spot and turned and waited for Romo to throw it to that spot the theory above would work. Not what we do.

I dunno. I think it all gets overcomplicated, unnecessarily.

It's like announcers saying that a guy fumbled a punt because the punter was left legged and the spin of the ball was in the opposite direction.

And heck, even in sandlot football, we'd never wait until a guy got to a spot, turned and waited for a throw. There's always an element of leading a guy to a spot.

I guess I'm making this too simple.

Turning our focus to Miles Austin...

I like the kid's apparent confidence. If you recall, prior to Austin's multi-injury season of 2008, Romo had singled him out late in camp as one who was going to suprise a lot of people in the hand-wringing over who would replace Terry Glenn. Remember all that cat & mouse about who Romo was referring to and then it was finally reported as Austin?

That, and the fact that Austin impacted in 2008 when he was healthy, ought to give the guy a bit more credibility. Of course past is past and the only thing that matters is what Austin can achieve now and can he stay healthy.

But maybe there is more to Austin than wild speculation. Romo seemed to think so.

I dunno...ya throw the ball...ya catch the ball.

I realize there are pre-snap reads, etc...but sometimes I think this "developing chemistry" thing is really blown out of proportion.

If we were discussing Aikman, who was a precision guy, I'd be more willing to embrace the Williams/Romo discussion.

I pay attention to things like back shoulder throws - things that aren't necessarily drawn up. There are tons of little clues that tell a quarterback what his receiver is going to do, and there is also just knowing the tendencies of your teammate.

I think it's a lot more important for a guy who improvises to have chemistry than a timing QB. For Aikman, it was about trust, not chemistry. For Romo, it's often about making a play when it doesn't go exactly as diagrammed. I don't think you can do that without some knowledge of what your receivers will do when the play breaks down.

You can't really tell what's going on just by watching a couple of passes fall incomplete. These reporters have a job, and it's not to say "I don't know" or "I'm not sure." That goes for the pollyannas as well as the negative nancies.

I imagine that regardless of how often a QB and WR have throwing sessions during the offseason that there are still adjustments that need to be made once you insert a DB. Its one thing to run routes against air and quite another thing to run routes against someone that hits you and generally tries to get in your way. Our corners are pretty good and it does lead credence to thge idea that it takes time for the offense to click.

Tony Romo and Roy Williams are not ready for prime time. In seven-on-seven drills, they failed to connect twice. Then they had another ball fall harmlessly to the ground in team drills. They're not on the same page at all. I just wanted to throw that out there because I keep seeing all these stories about the wonderful "offseason chemistry" that's forming between the players. I haven't seen any evidence of that.

I know its only OTAs, but unless offense changes to run first, we might, might average 20 points a game.

You nailed it with your first comment. It's OTA's.

I'm not worried at all. I love hearing what I'm hearing from the coaches. Love it.
