We had a very interesting Draft adding talent on every level of the Defense so i ask where do you see the most improvement ? Run Defense or the Pass Defense

I am going Run D but that may be the easy choice since they were so historically bad their really is only one way to go LOL

Brent Urban i think was an interesting pickup to help solve this based on his strength vs the run

I think the intent was to do both, but it took more resources to plug all the holes on run D, and a bit of a change in philosophy on what kind of player to get at certain positions.

I also believe some of the problem on pass D was because run D gave up yards on early downs.

So, I think the intent was to put more emphasis on run D. Therefore, I'll say run D should improve first. Then if all goes well, maybe pass D improves, but it may not. Run D should though.

run defense. we were 31st in run defense and 11th in pass. although the 11th is a mirage, given teams ran so easily on us, defense being so bad they chose not to pass. why would you....if we don't fix the run D, it won't matter, so there is going to be an emphasis on run defense. we added some big bodies that can move (no more Poe and woods), like Bohanna, Urban, Hamilton (not sure if he sticks around). we added Parsons, changing scheme, with a focus on run stopping.

Both. 1st I think Quinn as a former DL coach will focus a lot on stopping the run. If they can keep offense in 2nd/3rd and longer situation and put them in more obvious passing downs it allows pass rusher to really attack. I think Gregory who only showed up in Oct after coming off the suspension will be better prepared and conditioned with a full off-season under his belt and will be a bigger factor. With the cover 3 zone I expect defense to give up some pass yards but then I don't about yards I do how ever care about ints and preventing the big strike down the field.

I feel like Urban, Odigi, Golston, Bohanna, Neale, and Parsons all do more for the run than pass defense in the long-term but it might be the organic improvement we get from guys like D-Law, Gregory, Gallimore, Wilson and Diggs that makes the bigger difference.

Yah, thats an easy one. And with the way our offense will be scoring the other teams will have to be playing catch up and pass the ball. Against bad teams we will be getting up on them so some will have to abandon the run game.

I mean statistically the run D will improve more.

But the pass defense needs to improve to have the greater impact on W/L

If you improve the run D the pass D will be improved as well. Vise-versa, as well.

It all improves with the DL.

I think both will clearly improve because I refuse to believe that they can be any worse.

If I had to guess which one improves the most I'd say run defense.

umm no way until we play 17 can we answer that without total GUESTIMATE..

however has to be D period either side so bad we we have to only go up lol

I think the run defense will have the bigger statistical improvement, with pass D having a slight improvement, due to a slightly better pass rush + Diggs with more experience. I think Kelvin Joseph will struggle early on, but he'll come on towards the end of the year.

Another premature asking of a question. We won't know the answer until they have a few games under their belt. Every yahoo has their own opinion until then but what does it matter?

The pass defense was pretty decent
The run defense was almost the worst in the nfl
So this ones easy
The run defense couldn’t get much worse but the pass defense needs to be as good as last year while the run defense improves considerably

a few maybe 6-7 before this has chance to gel for sure..
