KC offense is not the same without Hill and their defense can be exploited.

Bills would worry me more.

KC has had three games over 40 points and is averaging over 30. Even without Tyreek Hill, they’re high scoring offense with Mahomes. They would beat us by 2+ scores with our lack of scoring. We don’t have the passing game or receivers to exploit anyones defense. We haven’t scored more than two TDs in any game this season and we just got through playing the worst defense in the NFL last week.

The Cowboys would never be able to compete with either KC or Buffalo with their lackluster passing game and inability to score TDs. Despite how good our defense has played both those teams would put up 25+ with the caliber of QBs and weapons they have. We found out against Philly that our defense is going to be up against it if our offense isn’t clicking. Our offense is going to have to get a lot better. You can just put it all on your defense to contain teams/QBs like that.
You never know. I remember a certain Super Bowl that ended 20-19, and the losing team was heavily favored with a great offense. Of course I’m talking Giants-Bills.

Agree, but will see if that continues the 2nd half of the season.

It’s all going to come down to if Dak can get back on track and get some sort of rhythm going with this receiving group. I’m not sure the offense will ever get going this season like it needs to get going for us to have a real shot in the playoffs if we make them. You can’t move on from your best WR and not take a hit. I could see this coming prior to the season.

That was over 30 years ago and the Giants had a better defense than we have now. There’s been a number of rule changes since then that have opened up the passing game. We’re simply not scoring enough and our run defense has issues. We’ll see if the DT we added helps but if we don’t add a quality receiver before the trade deadline to take some of the attention off CeeDee , it’s going to be tough this season

I think Dallas can beat Philly to get there.

I am less sure of being able to beat KC or Buffalo once getting there.
Sounds soft I know, but we get to the dance we’re playing with house money. Just getting that far is such a step forward I wouldn’t crush our guys for not being able to pull it out.

KC lost to the Colts and took some big breaks to beat the Raiders at home. Buffalo got stymied by the Chiefs and Dolphins, two average at best defenses. No NFC team would be favored but never is just hyperbole.

Yep, getting there would definitely be an accomplishment for this team after waiting so long.
But man,
with the whole NFL landscape changing so much from one year to the next it would still be a huge disappointment to get there and lose.
Because the talking heads would probably all say the only reason Dallas made it was because of how weak the conference was.
And they would be right.

But then its so hard to get back I'd be scared of another 27 year wait or longer.

A lot of things happen this time of year but once you get to December and January the contenders start to separate from the pretenders. We’ll see how things are shaping up then.

So why is the conference only weak when Dallas succeeds?

In the past, throughout Romo’s career and having a top offense with Dak and even multiple #1 seeds with both, we never had any realistic chance because we never had a defense that could stop anyone.

I have no doubt that if Amari Cooper was still part of our offense, our chance would be at least double what it is.

There is nothing about this offense that says Super Bowl to me. The defense is great, don’t get me wrong, but it can only carry us so far if the offense doesn’t compliment it.

And the undefeated New England Patriots averaging over 30 points a game (maybe more) yet were held to 14 points by the NY Giants in the first Super Bowl between the two teams. ;)
