Most Memorable "Big Hit"

Ike's first one on Tina! No footage that I recall though.

Earl on the NFL on any given Sunday of his career was alway unbelievable to me.

Atwater on Okoye was as good a hit as I've ever seen.

Bednarik on Gifford is the hit by which all others are measured IMO.

LT on Theisman makes the short list for me.

The most memerable for me was Tatum on Stingly. I'll never forget that play as long as I live.

Man that was awesome.

It is between that hit and the hit Roy put on the SF PR

To me, no question, it's the hit Atwater puts on Okoye. The PR for SF was what, 200 lbs at best? Christian Okoye, "The Nigerian Nightmare" was a 265 pound power back. That hit on him was amazing.

Okoye's feet position made that hit.

This hit is not as impressive as it looks at first glance. The "nigerian nightmare" must have closed his eyes and not seen Atwater at all. Look where his feet were when Atwater hit him. Deion Sanders could have knocked him down.

And?

You can say that about any hit. Big hits come when players are not ready for the impact or not in position. Atwater was known as a hitter. Okoye new that. To me, the position of the feet are irrelivant.

Feet position is everything. Okoye was in the middle of a cut with only one foot on the ground not to mention his position had him on his heel.

The Roy and Vasher hit both guys were at full speed. Not even in the same league as far as I am concerned.

We can agree to disagree

That's fine. As I said earlier, nice hits happen when a player is out of position. Doesn't take anything away from the hit IMO.

As for Vasher, well, he's 180 pounds. Roy is 230 easy. How impressive is that, if your breaking down hits? Laws of physics dictate the result of that. Clearly, Roy is going to get the better of it.

Should we then say that because Roy has 50 pounds on the guy, it somehow makes the hit less then what it was? I don't think so. That too was a great hit. Just not as impressive, to me as the hit that put Okoye out.

We can agree to disagree. That is reasonable.

my fav is ROY on the Commanders WR a few years back... Moss or Coles? cant remember... he sent him flying

I think it was my hit on Juke...

Man did he go flying! For a moment he even lost his NYC accent. ;)

Uh yeah...like a gnat flying into the side of a mountain...

If you ever get to see the 1976 Cowboys team highlight film, you will see Harvey Martin just destroy Craig morton on the blind side. The hit preserved a 9-3 Cowboy win over the Giants.
