Aikman and elway were great quartebacks.

Aikman was a very good quarterback and his Super Bowl rings got him into the Hall of fame. He wasn't great imo. Irvin and Smith were great.

so how do you account for the "Smith wasn't great, he just had a great line" argument, or the "Irvin wasn't great, he had Aikman throwing to him and Smith churning up yards for him" argument?

Amazing how none of the guys on that team were great but they were practically unbeatable from 92-95.

Aikman's prime years were 1991-1998. During that time Aikman's QB rating was 87.1. The league average QB rating during that time was 75.0. That means Aikman's QB rating was 16.1% above the average. In today's NFL, that would be like a QB averaging a 92 QB rating. Take that with 3 Super Bowl rings, and being generally a great postseason player...I can't see that as being overrated.

Fouts' prime years were 1978-1985. During that time he had a QB rating of 86.9. The league average during those years was 69.5. So Fouts' QB rating during those years was 25% above the average. In today's NFL that would be the equivalent of a QB averaging a 99 QB rating. Now, Fouts never even went to a Super Bowl and did have a fumbling problem IIRC, but putting him in the HOF doesn't seem ridiculous to me.

Personally, I think Moon is a little underrated.
Aikman certainly wasn't (top 5 worthy) overrated, nor was Elway.
Fouts maybe a little...but not really, is someone saying he is a top 5 ? No.
I have always said Namath was overrated. The guy had 2 good seasons, but overall was still mediocre, I put him in the same category with Kurt Warner...hell, Warner might be better.

But to ignore Bradshaw ? Travesty.

What cracks me up is the fact he puts Aikman on this list, but leaves off someone like Terry Bradshaw. While Bradshaw did win his share of titles, his supporting cast was actually better and he still put up horrid numbers.

Bradshaw had 5 seasons where he put up sub-50% completion and had as many INTs as TDs. Heck, he had a QB rating of barely above 70% while he played with folks like Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Mike Webster, Rocky Bleier, etc.,

That isn't even counting how he had a defense with the likes of Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, Mel Bount, Joe Greene, among others who could make the game as low scoring as needed.

Any list that starts with the most overrated QB's of all time has to start with Bradshaw and Namath.

Preach it.

There are only a few football fans who I would name as being foolish enough to share that particular opinion. That group would consist mainly of Commanders fans.
