A lot of good ones here, ... anything from Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles or Mony Python. LOL!

#1 and I just came up with these.....

Why does it always have to be snakes? ~ Raiders of the Lost Ark

Call it. ~ No Country for Old Men

Hasta la vista, baby. ~ Terminator 2

At my signal, unleash hell. ~ Gladiator

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the armies of the North, general of the Felix legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next. ~ Gladiator

We’re on a mission from God. ~ The Blues Brothers

My precious. ~ Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Stop calling me Shirley. ~ Airplane

Game over, man, game over! ~ Aliens

Good quotes, and most recognizable quotes aren't necessarily the same thing. Many listed here are very good quotes, and most are very recognizeable, but when people today can still quote a line from Gone with the Wind and Casablanca, they have to be the top of the list. Taxi Driver and Dirty Harry have stood a pretty good test of time too.

As for more great quotes (not necessarily most recognizeable), Eastwood is full of them. I don't think anyone has mentioned "Dying ain't much of a living boy" from The Outlaw Josie Wales.

If Arch Stanton comes around he could probably help with some Eastwood quotes.

WHO HERE KNOWS WHERE THE NAME "ARCH STANTON" COMES FROM?

The best line in that movie to me was "Oh my god, what a fckin nightmare!

Had nothing to do with it being clever. It was all about the delivery and the accent. Marisa Tomei made that movie.

I love it when she says, "Yeah, you blend."

Has tears rolling down my cheeks every time. She made that movie even though Pesci was great.

They both were perfect working with each other.

When she shows him the pictures and he sees the one with him in the shower and starts ranting...had me rolling.

you got it, honey! You did it! The case cracker, me in the shower!

"Make my Day"

"May the force be with you"

"Here's lookin at you, kid"

" I'll be back"

"People on ludes should NOT drive"....oh wait, maybe not that one.

the movie has to have been very popular or have parts of it become part of the recognizable lore of movies. Star wars, eastwood, etc all can be considered. And of course probably the oldest one of all that so many have recognized for the last 70 years "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn"
Since it is easily the oldest, it has to be first.
