Only makes sense in an emergency, IMO.
Agreed. And would it not create another emergency at the guard spot? Who would replace Allen? Peterman? It's just as ugly facing pressure up the middle as it is from the outside.

I guess Gurode would be a viable replacement at guard but that doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.

The guys who don't think Larry Allen could play LT are completely insane.

If you think Phillip Daniels would have even smelled Bledsoe last Saturday against Allen, you are even more insane.

Tucker is pathetic. Period.

I don't want to hear that LA is too slow. Please. He is supremely talented. That is all you need.
LA can't play T at a high level now. Maybe at one time he had barely sufficient footspeed to play T. The only reason he is capable at G is because at the snap, he can/does engage the DT. Then he can apply his tremendous strength on his man. At T, he has to 'catch' his man, who's going wide or inside, get centered on him, and apply his force. Different type of play altogether. T has passed Larry by long ago. That is why T is so much more difficult to play than G. If you are early or late and than apply your 'drive' you'll whiff. That's why Pettiti looks so bad sometimes. Wait 'til he learns.

There is no way at this point in his career that he can play tackle. He isn't even playing all that well at guard. We are what we are.....at least for this year. We are essentially starting back ups in several OL positions right now.

You must be a really big Romo fan because if Larry plays LT Romo will be our qb after the first play.

So your telling me your more confortable with a guy who couldn't hack RT and gave up 4, count 'em, 4 sacks to Phillip Daniels over a guy who was a PRO BOWLER at LT?

Maybe he isn't Pro Bowl quality at LT, but he is certainly a starter in this league at LT.

You guys are very misguided on this one.

I don't think they are. Have you watched Allen much the last couple of years? Alexander is right on the money. He doesn't have any real speed, balance or lateral agility. He'd get owned by speed rushers.

Tucker stinks too (still wondering where those guys that said Dallas would be better off with Flozell out are at.... ), but LA wouldn't be any better.

I guess we will agree to disagree.

Absolutely I'm more comfortable with Tucker because LA can not play tackle anymore period. Like other have said he doesn't have the speed to keep up with speed rushers. He's doing well to block his man at guard and he lines up directly in front of him. While Tucker may not be the best he's still better than LA at playing LT right now.

Yes Tucker gave up 4 sacks but LA would have given up a lot more.
