Not MLB but it may be time to switch to some 3-4 concepts and have Micah line up on the line then drop into coverage or key off the RB on early downs. The mindset of these DE is just get sacks, but Quinn has to temper this and keep these guys disciplined or they get burned by guys who can take advantage of their over aggressiveness.
Exactly. That's what a lot of DEF Coordinators would be doing. I'm surprised there wasn't a shift to this during the off season. Micah should be a 3-4 OLB

Micah wants to pass rush mostly. But DC needs to step in and say hey this is what's best for the defensive unit as a whole. There is a time to get the rush on and a time to stay patient.

Especially if teams are going to continue to run right at him. Especially if we have LBS right now who seem to not be able to get to the ball quick enough. I think it's time to get more creative with Micah instead of just always rushing him from one side, and letting him take a pounding! Please give your thoughts
We have no LBRs after Micha….all trash unfortunately

Yes because we need as many ways as possible to blow up the team and start over after one loss LOL.

I personally liked that you could move him off the ball in run situations and can move him anywhere on the d line in pass situations. Clark and lve were so so bad

If anything, I’m moving him to WLB so he’d still have the freedom of taking on less folks than he probably would at MLB - LVE needs to be the MLB so he doesn’t have to possibly run as much. And, since Dallas plays mostly Big Nickel, Kearse/Wilson would basically be the SLB/SS hybrid. NOW, in OBVIOUS passing situations, he should be lined up anywhere they can place him.

Micah if he just played mlb wouldn’t even be a discussion in media anymore

He’s an ok mlb but he’s a generational talent when it comes to getting after qb

We will see more gap assignment and Parsons coming from LB this weekend. We don’t need Elliot getting 100 on us.

Boys don’t do this to me. Don’t make me feel like we’re at rock bottom. Be ready for Bellichick’s belligerents he will put up a tough fight.

Micah anywhere but in the backfield is a waste of his talents.
Micah in the backfield because he's sack happy and leaving the edge open for 200 yards rushing is a waste of his talents as well.

It can't be about sacks every play. If he's going to play DE that involves more than just chasing sacks. Teams will run at him as long as that's what he's doing.

Sure, he is more than capable of playing a hybrid role, however it's a complete overreaction to one bad game by this team. Micah on the LOS is on pace for 20+ sacks this season and constantly frees up the rest of the line for frequent 1v1 matchups.

LVE played terrible on Sunday, but overall is a solid middle backer. You have high potential guys like Clark who can play the weak side. One loss doesn't mean you start shifting the entire defense around. Develop the guys you have in place instead.

It's really not the topic I have an issue with it's the why behind it all.
Why is Clark high potential?

That's what I was thinking. Get 3 big dudes in the middle and rush Micah and Whomever off the edges.

Yeah, there is some credence to the OP's thoughts. Right now, Micah is Robert Quinn, the player that got a myriad of sacks, but was so bad against the run teams kept dumping him. Rushing up the field on every play w/ your hair on fire will ring up a pile of sacks all right, put you on BSPN a ton and everyone will laud your pass rushing ability, but is that really the best way to use Micah? Interesting question, that.

Why is Clark high potential?
Because of his physical attributes. Excellent size/speed combo that is tough to find. Going back to college the knock on Clark was more about his ability to see the game....Recognizing routes, biting on fakes, slow to pick up on misdirections plays....a lot of which we saw from most defenders this past Sunday. If you can coach him up enough to process information quickly I think sky is the limit for this guy, but that is much easier said than done.

LVE was at his best when playing WLB with Sean Lee in the middle. This team has needed an inside LB for years, but that’s just not the Quinn defense. He likes playing safeties at LB, which works when the DL is doing it’s job. Mike needs to get the offense rolling and being more aggressive because I believe SF and Philly will both punish this defense on the ground and with all the short passes and screens with good blocking receivers, which stretches and stresses the run defense.

We've all heard it a thousand times that the best way to counteract a pursuing LB like Parsons is to run right at him, so moving him to MLB would only make it easier for opposing teams to do just that. It would also dramatically harm the Cowboys pass rush.

This is a 3 year old debate. Common denominator: LVE is soft, slow and a liability at MLB. If the Cowboys had a "real MLB" moving Micah wouldn't even be a discussion. Maybe DQ should try Clark at MLB just to see how he plays, I'm not saying he's playing lights out either.

Someone mentioned the 49ers game. The Cowboys stopped the 9ers run because the DEs were DLaw n Golston on run downs. So, yes the blueprint still works if Micah is the every down RDE. We have seen the 3-4 some in the first 3 games, but it's looking like we need more to protect against Micah taking himself out of plays.
