MoveTheSticks has the Cowboys drafting DT Walter Nolan at No. 12

Big mistake.

Cowboys NEED TO TRADE DOWN, preferably twice if able, late into the 1st round and pick up extra Day 2 picks (2nd & 3rd rounds). There are many very good DTs who can be taken during Day 2 (Rounds 2 & 3).
Ah, so instead of getting the best 3tech to come out since Jalen Carter and probably since Chris Jones before that, we should get the 6th or 7th best one in this draft?

if we give Osa a new contract we will not draft Nolen, let's hope Osa is priced out from Dallas and he is better off with a team with a better 1 tech anyway.

With so many holes in the team, I see it as somewhat silly to select a coach in the first round and more with the 12th pick, first because they need to invest in Osa and it's not going to be cheap, on the offensive side they have many holes, they don't have RB, they don't have a RG or a C depending on where they put Beebe, the RT last season was a disaster, they don't have a WR2, you can't solve those problems in one season, it's impossible, and even less so having little money, and look at what a silly thing it is to have to restructure Dak-ancer's contract 5 months after signing that silly contract, that shows the disaster the team is in. It is clear that the player they need first is a RB, who is the only position that could carry the team after the QB. There is no other position that can do it, and you have to select the best, and that is Ashton. There is no other option. If a team like Chicago beats them in the opportunity to select Ashton, the next step would be the best OT or the best WR, or move down positions to have more picks. I don't see this team getting back on track in at least two seasons, and they have to have almost perfect drafts, otherwise it will take them longer.

I dont see the Jones’ paying for a top FA receiver. At most we would get a stopgap aging vet on a 1-2 yr deal, or a bargain basement type who would just compete with our other #4-5 type receivers.

Heres one list of the top 10 FA WRs… and the top 2, Higgins and Godwin are possibly returning to their current team.

1) Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals
2) Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3) Keenan Allen, Chicago Bears
4) Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills
5) Darius Slayton, New York Giants
6) Marquise Brown, Kansas City Chiefs
7) Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans
8) Josh Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers
9) DeAndre Hopkins, Kansas City Chiefs
10) Mike Williams, New York Jets
11) Mack Hollins, Buffalo Bills
12) Elijah Moore, Cleveland Browns
13) Diontae Johnson, Baltmore Ravens

After the top 2, I dont see Cooper being brought back. Guys like Keenan, Hopkins and Diggs are 31-32 yrs old and would only be declining stopgaps. Slayton and Palmer are boderline #2s/3s. Johnson is a headcase.
Not easy getting a quality starting FA in the 25-28 yr old range who isnt going to be pricey.

Once again the FO put us in a bind. Cooks, our #2 was an aging stopgap, recent 3rd rounder Tolbert is just a borderline #3, Mingo is a gamble, and the lower rd picks haven’t developed.
Of that list, in terms of realistic possibility (Higgins is not a possibility), age, and skill set, the guy that offers the most bang for your buck IMO is Darius Slaytin as deep threat.

He is one of the better options, age/production. But even so would be more of a solid #3. While he has avg’d 720 yds/yr he only had 573 yd/rec last season. For comparison, Jalen Tolbert had 640 rec yds in ‘24.

Really there are only 3-4 starting caliber receivers entering FA. Most of the FA WRs are either washed or #3’s at best.

why do you think Nolen will be a bust? biggest indicator of busts in DTs in the 1st Rd is lack of sacks in College(like Mazi Smith) and Nolen has only played 1 year at 3T and he had 7 sacks and he is only .20.
Haven’t you learned by now, Rambo is clueless about anything this team needs to do to win anything? That’s why he’s been on ignore for years.
