My nephew has a song in a B movie, and I think he just got a small lump sum and some VIP treatment at the premier. Obviously the bigger the movie and the bigger the artist, the more the royalty checks.

that sounds about right. I have just heard movie people talk about having stacks of small checks, or what is small for them, and I have always been curious how that works. Like if everytime the movie plays on tv, they get a check in the mail or something, or if the channel plans to play it 50 times, they get a check covering 50 views of it

I'm pretty sure that's a contract issue. But I'm sure a lot of actors and such hope their shows go into syndication because of the royalties tied to their contracts.

Mob Rules is the best song on the album, and most appropriate for where it was set in the movie. The movie took forever to come out on video because of the music licensing.

Know the song. Didn't realize it was a movie.

Yeah, kind of a funny deal on that one RW. If I am not mistaken, Pancho and Lefty was written and cut by Whalen and Willie (and there's a way funny story behind that too if you ever get a chance to check it out), and the song was so popular that they actually made the movie later. So it kinda went backwords on that one.

The magic of a score is the ability to capture the essence of the visual and one of my favorites of all time is Explosions in the Sky doing "Friday Night Lights". They captured the desolation row look of West Texas perfectly.
