Fellow Cowboys fanatics,
My girlfriend recently got accepted to Boston College to pursue her Masters, and we need all the information we can get about Boston. We're doing our own research, of course, but I'd love to hear from you all as opposed to some random pats fan :blech:
-Can you think of any safe, nice, clean areas to live within 20 minutes from the BC campus for under or close to 1200 a month?
-What advice can you give us about the public transportation?
-I understand parking is abysmal. Should we sell one or both of our cars? Would it be a lot of trouble/expensive to keep both of them?
-Can you give me any tips on driving in Boston? From what I've read the roads are narrow, and stop lights are an option.
-Where's the best place to see movies?
-What is the best internet service provider in Boston? I've had verizon and cox here in Virginia, and cox blows verizon out of the water.
-How's the job market in Boston? I have a bachelor's in economics, but I'd like to get a job as a personal trainer, and then own my own gym in the next five years. I see a lot of postings online, but I imagine there are a lot of people applying for those jobs too. The job market is terrible here.
-Are there any nice gyms that could cater to us both? I'm more in to strength training (I live for squats and dead lifts) while Katia likes doing her Zumba class (it's sort of a mix between dancing and working out), cardio, and machines.
-Can you recommend any dentists or optometrists to go to? I've found a good dentist here, but even after 4 years I haven't found an optometrist that's any good.
-Where's the best place to buy groceries? Do you have farm fresh/food lion up there?
-Which cell phone provider is the best in Boston?
-Do you have any general advice for us? Perhaps you were shocked by something or took a while to learn the way of things when you first moved to Boston. Maybe you see new residents doing things that annoy you, and you'd like to prevent us from doing them.
Please feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you can. Please add anything you think is important. I'm excited to be moving up to a big city, but everything seems more complicated, and MUCH more expensive. I could use all the help you can give.
