If you're going to go to the sidelines and cry everytime you have a bad play, we don't need you. You're a rookie, bad plays happen. Every DB in this league has been burned at least once or twice. It's how you respond next week.

That said, I want him starting next week. Don't want to see Keith Davis. I assume he was only in because Watkins was so distraught on the sidelines.

One more thing Mr. Watkins. That FSU move where the DB's are taught to punch the ball out. STOP! You may have prevented the TD if you had just tried to tackle Hank Baskett.

Good luck kid!

its not an FSU move, Derrick Johnson did it his whole career at Texas. He was just good at it.

I put the blame on Zimmer for calling the blitz with Henry. With Watkins and at that stage of the game the last thing you want to do is blitz a corner and have no one helping the rookie. As for crying its a game that had so much emotion in it I can't chatize him for it . Others will but, I won't.

i think we saw the fact that he was a rookie last night, but then again you see veterans fall for the double move time and time again.

i also don't think he was crying, i know it looked that way, but i think he was just really disappointed in himself, he knew he had plays he could make, and didn't make them, and i think he just had the overwhelming feeling of "hey, i just let my team and my coach down, and i could've made that play."

i wouldn't pass judgement on him too quick.

bottomline: i'm going to the game against Houston this week, i wanna see him with a pick, that'll help him get past this

He was not crying. Those plays ate him up. I felt bad for the guy. We hinged our hopes on a 5th round rookie. We knew this going into the season. I don't blame WAtkins for our lack of planning. He did what rookies do - he got beat.

i dont have a problem with Watkins, he got burned, but all rookies and players have to go through something like this, believe it or not this is the type of game Watkins can really learn from, and can make him elevate his game to the next level.

5th round, 1st round, 7th round...

It doesn't matter-- rookies will get beat just like you said.

I'm not concerned in the least bit. I'm betting he starts Sunday and continues to improve.

The other thought is that if he had punched the ball out that we'd be singing the kid's praises today. As it was he did force a fumble which I think is one more than what "killeh" did all of last season.

There's plenty of blame to go around for this loss, I give Watkins a pass on this. We all knew there'd be growing pains when starting the rookie. I just hope he gets his head screwed on straight and gets back out there having learned a thing or two.

I'd rather the guy show some passion than act like it was no big deal.

Gotta remember this guy is a kid.

He has to pull up his boot straps and carry on.

At least you can tell the kid cares... how many times do you see an idiot make a bad play and then you'll seem him on the sidelines not long after yucking it up.

live and learn watkins. tough day for him, but the pass rush didnt get the job done either, he looks bad cause he's exposed as the guy that blew the play.

But i would rather see a guy upset because he got beat than see a guy that acted indifferent about it.

Exactly. Watching the Giants yesterday and seeing Shockey do exactly that more than once was making me grit my teeth, and I'm definitely not a Giants fan. ;)

No reason to bury the kid. He made some bad plays. Suck it up and do better next time. I think he will.

He manned up after the game. Took tough questions and didn't beat around the bush about his performance.

I like the kid.

I definitely am not trying to slam Pat. I was just saying, it happens. Can't be on the sideline pouting. Gotta get back out there. I'd rather have him back there than Killa any day.

People probably thought you were trying to slam him when you said he was crying, and that we don't need him.

What we don't *need* in my opinion, is more butt-hurt posters overreacting to a loss on the road to a playoff-caliber team in what was probably the best game I've seen so far this season.
