yeah its good to see he gives a damn . I just don't want him to have confidence issues

that is the angle i was aiming for. He just looked broken. Haven't seen it mentioned but the fumble he forced on Philly's first drive.

Im pretty positive MOST EVERY DB coach tells their DB's to wrap one arm over the shoulder and one arm punch or at least slap at the ball from behind.

Watkins choice wasn't bad, his technique was. Your only supposed to strip the ball if you have enough grab on him to pull him down if u failed

Watkins is like our own kid. We all love this kid, and in no way was he crying. I looked at it several times and like some have said, he was just upset at himself..

But OMG, this kid is fast. He bit hard on a stop move and completely turned and ran and caught Baskett.. And on the flea flicker, he bit as well, and actually caught up and had a chance to intercept it.

The kid is going to be a stud, I wish we would let Romo take his bumps and bruises as well. Oh well, in time.

Sitting on the sideine with your head down, in a highly emotional game isnt bad IMO. Roy Williams isnt the best at coverage...at all, lol, and Pat Watkins is a rookie and still learning...

Roy looked like he was going for the INT instead of stopping the pass, mistakes happen.

The other thought is that if he had punched the ball out that we'd be singing the kid's praises today. As it was he did force a fumble which I think is one more than what "killeh" did all of last season.

Yeah... but can he take a bullet like Davis can?

If you're going to go to the sidelines and cry everytime you have a bad play, we don't need you. You're a rookie, bad plays happen. Every DB in this league has been burned at least once or twice. It's how you respond next week.


That said, I want him starting next week. Don't want to see Keith Davis. I assume he was only in because Watkins was so distraught on the sidelines.

One more thing Mr. Watkins. That FSU move where the DB's are taught to punch the ball out. STOP! You may have prevented the TD if you had just tried to tackle Hank Baskett.

I agree. I wasn't disappointed Watkins gave up the big plays - I expect a rookie FS to give up a few big plays. My only disappointment was how he appeared to handle his failures. He's gonna have to have thicker skin than that if he's gonna stick around in the NFL.


Zbikowski in next year's draft is looking mighty tempting (and possible if we stay at .500).

I don't have a problem with defenders trying to punch the ball out, but you have to have the tackle secured when you do so. Don't sacrifice the tackle to try and force the fumble. Once you know you have control of the player and can tackle him, then punch it out.


Like I said though, it's not the play he gave up that has me worried, it's how he reacted to the plays he gave up.

No mentioning any safeties in the upcoming drazft unless his first name is Laron and last name Landry
