Murray = Julius?

Did Solomon Paige have an I in his last name? I always thought he spelled it Page.

Think you're right. Thanks for the correction.

Why is it stupid? Its a reasonable discussion. I personally don't know how Murray will end up. I am not comparing them in terms of running style, but there is a risk right now that Murray is headed down a similar path. His production is fizzling out in a similar manner, and if you watch the games, he didn't have the same explosiveness or physicality in AZ.

Its stupid because Murry is a rookie who's played all of 8 games and your comoaring him to a guy whos is done already.

Ok. Lets keep playing. Why did Felix average 2-3 more YPC carry than Murray? Luck? Not enough sample size? They expected us to pass when Felix was in?

Felix is a good back, but yes 11 carries it is not accident your ypg will normally be higher. This BS about Murray losing it is nothing but the same BS from the agenda crowd you have a favorite and feel the to need to bash the other guys with made up BS either that or you have no clue. Then again around here I’m use to it.

The thing about Murray is that he is a better all around RB than Julius, which makes him less likely to be a mere flash in the pan. He probably isn't going to be the next Emmitt Smith, but he has good speed, makes good cuts, can run past or run through tacklers, can block and catch ...Julius was pretty much dependent on quickness alone, and in the long run that wasn't enough.

His 8 games are pretty similar to Julius' first 8.

the same thing was said of Julius Jones after his eight games in his first year, lots of fans were annointing him as the next best thing, and in the end, how did that turn out....it is a good comparison at this point of both of their careers

This is not similar, the guy had a rough game playing vs a defense that was stacked at the line. Hell I have more of a problem with our WR not beating the one on ones they were getting all friken day.

Your description is not what I saw

I am not talking about just the AZ game. The slide in YPC reminds me of JJones slide after a hot 3-4 games.

Last 3 games for Demarco:
25 carries, 73 yards, 2.9
22 carries, 87, 4.0
12 carries, 38, 3.2

I don't know if he is fizzling - I just thought it was worth talking about. Some have had good thoughts on this, and have been willing to engage in the conversation.

Three weeks ago, most named Murray the best Cowboy RB since Emmitt. A few warned about early anointing him like what happened with Julius Jones, but most said they have seen enough.

The past 60 carries, Murray has averaged around 3.2 YPC. And he looked a little soft to me against the Cards - not finishing runs with the physicality that has been core to his success. Over that same period, Felix has averaged over 5 YPC.

Which is it?

1. Murray is a flash in the pan like Julius. In a few years he won't even be on the field, at least not a starter.
2. Murray is a good, solid around back that got off to a hot start. He is a 1200 yards per year guy and a good all around back. But not an elite runner.
3. Murray is a great RB. He will get going again - especially if we get a lead blocker like Tony F back on the field. He will be a top 5-7 back in the NFL for several years, and likely average 4.5+ YPC.

he is what he is and all this HE WILL BE is crap on a wicker stick. the average fan changes their mind after every game on what needs to be done, who needs to go, who's a star and who's not.

that's why the average fan will never smell a coaching position.

anyone trying to say who murray now is just doing sportsbar talk.

i just get sick and tired of fans who wants to define a players entire career out of a handful of games.

I have had he concern about Murrey ending up like Julius Jones for a few weeks now. Very productive when you first get into the league, and then just lose it. Only time will tell.

Oh yeah very much so.

lol, you think I have an agenda against Murray? Whether you're serious or not, that's some comedy right there.

Murray strikes me as more of a Curvin Richards.

Did Richards gain as much yardage in his career as Murray did in a couple of games?

He pointed at you?

I missed that.

Call it what you will. When I see people comparing Julis Jones to Murray it leads me to think one of 2 things. They have an agenda or they have no fricken clue as to what they are watching.

No, but it's a fair comparison to make. They are different style runners, no doubt, and DeMarco is probably the better all-around back but the fact that their first couple months of production have been so similar it's easy to compare the two.

Actually, I think JJ was a lot more important to that team than DeMarco has been early on. His numbers might not have been as great, but he did it with a whole lot less help around him and completely took over a couple of games (Chicago on Thanksgiving, Seattle on Monday night, Giants on Sunday night). Murray is yet to do that...I don't want to hear the Rams argument, there are dozens of backs in the league right now who could have had a huge game that day.

He responded to Dallas' quote of my reply, and might as well have just said as much. I don't think he even read my original post to be honest, maybe just an out of context reply.
