Isn't Murry going to be a RFA after this season? If so, I'd be just as happy to have them wait, and not commit yet another cap-crippling contract to a player with 3/4 of a season left.

Murray is an unrestricted free agent after the 2014 season, which is this year..............................He is free to sign with any team in the league after this season unless we resign him or franchise him.

Dez Bryant is in the same boat, he is an unrestricted free agent as well and can sign with any team after this season unless we resign him or franchise him.

In all likelihood fellas, we are not going to be able to keep both.

Personally, I don't want him. I never want a RB on the other side of 30. I'd prefer we keep Murray. But Peterson may give us a hometown deal and regardless of his age that cat is one scary RB to deal with. It would be a short term solution to not paying Murray a ridiculous deal, but it is just that, a solution.

Adrian Peterson running behind this line at 32 would be an even more dominating effort than Murray's effort this year. He's the only RB I would take exception to the over 30 rule.

It's just his cap.

I would offer around 7 mill a year deal.

Murray would take that deal in a heartbeat.

I think it gets done for $5.5 - $6 million a year.

Lynch won a championship and has been as durable and dominant as any top 3 RB the last few years.

He still had to squeal his way into his current pay. He's also the better back out of him and Murray. How much longer? Who knows.

We all know this league is not paying RB's the last 2 season's and it is probably going to get worse. If this was several years ago Murray would be looking for over $8 million per and probably closer to $10 million per.

I don't think so I'm seeing more and more teams leaning on the run, hell to attack teams who are constantly going after the QB coaches will be more and more inclined to counter with old fashion football. This is also a copycat league teams around the league know what 2 of the best teams are, big time running teams, even SF is finding out they are not as good at passing as they are at running and are getting back to the ground game.

Jerry has 3 rings guys deal with it. you can discredit him all you like but it is his franchise and Jimmy did not hire himself nor did Barry. Jimmy never signed a single player Emmitt and Mike were the highest paid because Jerry stepped up to the plate and got the deals done.

Actually, Jerry low balled Emmitt and made him hold out, but keep living in that fantasy land.

Yes he did and even with the leverage of no FA at that time he ended up paying Emmitt and made him the highest paid RB. If the offer of 16 mill for 4 years is a true rumor it is what the Cowboys have offered and Murray will not take but that is part of negotiation. He also refused to pay Irvin Jerry Rice money until he put up numbers like Rice once he did Jerry paid him. I actually wish Jerry was tougher on these deals as he was before.

Jerry only leads when things go bad, I have no doubt if this team gets turned around and wins he will no longer have nothing to do with it. Kind of like draft picks all bust are Jerry and all quality picks were someone else.

Nah... What's right is right.

IF we win it, I will Jerry some props.
It will still sort of be winning in spite of him.... Oh, what the heck..I will drop the latter...cause the former is just too damn good!

But who do you cut?

And then you're carrying 4 RB's on the roster (plus 1 FB) for a position where there's usually just one playing at a time.

Clutts or Claiborne. Clutts is not doing that much anyway. And Mo Claiborne well need I say more

@DraftCowboys: Per @BenRogers Murray was offered 4/$16 mil per his source.

That's pretty cheap imo

I was hoping the offer would be in this area. Its the correct contract for RBs now. It allows Dallas to re-sign Dez/Harris/McClain/Carter. Murray will un-doubtly price himself out of Dallas and he should because this is probably his only big contract and he has family to take care of.

The excellent O-line that Jerry has assembled gives him a bit of leverage on the Murray negotiations. I don't see Jerry paying big running back dollars to Murray. I think the offer he made is about the limit.
