I get in the mood from time to time for certain sounds of music. Right now I'm on a Joe Cocker, raspy voices, blues kind of mood and I'm searching for some new artists.

Any recommendations out there?

This may be softer than what you're looking for, but it's has the raspy quality.

If that is too mushy, this may be a better fit.

And something more traditional.

I'm not sure if you wanted Blues singers with raspy voices or just raspy voiced singers...

Although he is classified more as a Jazz musician, i've always enjoyed Louis Armstrong's voice, talk about raspy.

For female raspy voices, again maybe not technically blues, Bessie Smith, Janis Joplin and Macie Gray are always good.

Mazy Star
Billy Joel
Bruce Springsteen
Hank Williams Jr (I used to go hunting to his music when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot for him!)
Chris Cornell (his solo works are somewhat along the genre of what you were looking for)
B.B. King

Okay, I'm about tapped out!

Sam Cooke, he's kind of bluesy

I have 'Portrait of A Legend 1951-1964'. Although i don't consider myself a religious person, i really enjoy listening to his music.

Taj Mahal has a pretty raspy voice, also a blues artist.

Slim Harpo, Robert Cray, and Keb' Mo' are a few others.
