In order for this team to be a real contender they MUST eliminate the penalties! It is very frustrating when the defense makes a great stop to have the special teams unit commit a dumb penalty (twice)!

:bang2:

I was thinking the same. No more blaming Wade for the lack of discipline and sloppiness. This is JG's team now, with JG's players. If we don't tighten things up this season and start limiting the penalties then maybe he isn't everything we thought he was.

Too many penalties and mental errors. This has to change against San Diego.

You gotta play smart football. There's not much room for error.

How many years we been hearing that song now?

I agree.. Although I'm a Garrett supporter. He needs to address this problem now before the regular season begins.

Yes I'm tired of the mental errors as well...

Good thread this is very true. Its one of the biggest problems. Pretty sure they said we were 2nd in penalties last year. Wow

About as long as our OL song, besides the hit single Tyron Smith.

Yes and that must change now... Garrett must address the problem.

Penalties and stupid mistakes go back to the Parcells era.

Penalties didn't start when Wade came to town.

Almost all of our penalties were on players who should barely play this season, if they even make the team --

Parnell (2)
Olawale
T. Williams
Butler
Arkin
Harris
McQuistan
Leary
L. Smith
Taplin-Ross

The frustrating part about it is Jason is aware of theses, so why can't he send the message to the team?

I'm a big Garrett fan, but c'mon already, hold the team accountable.

I appreciate your statistical breakdown however the one I'm most concerned over is being 2nd in the ENTIRE NFL in penalties committed.

:fact:

I will chalk this up to young/bubble players trying to make a play to stand out. Now they stand out but it isn't the good way of standing out.

I agree. I believe the leaders of the team must take those whom commit the infraction to task more.

We're not second in penalties committed.

Are we going to result to technicalities now? I think the point was farily obvious that we take a ******** amount of penalties. Hard to argue that point, and its certainly not encouraging that we see alot in the first game of the new year.

it doesn't matter. the team is being coached and prepped the same way in training camp. jason preaches "the next starter" philosophy about the backups. they need to get this cleaned up once and for all regardless of their role on the team.
