I know 1st rd picks arent pet cats but his my dawg. Really the draft was great over all and I’m not tapping the brakes
the scouting dept won the draft the last 2 years. Even our UDFA's are playing well. Davis,Bell, STEELE. Then the gravy was Clark. Unreal what Will McClay has done.

He’s outperformed expectations because he was considered so raw but it’s not like he’s dominating out there like Rashawn Slater or Tristan Warfs did. He’s been decent.

I didn't ask anything
You replied directly to my comment that was a response to someone asking "why isn't he currently elite" and like I said his training camp status or him being a rookie changes nothing that I wrote

It wasn't too long ago that Tyron was injured and I said put Tyler in there at LT, he's got the physicals, the talent, and will learn. Boy did some people think I was stupid. I thumb my nose at you fools.

Tyler is already a top-8 LT in the league.

What even crazier? The NFCE has a tackle who was a rugby player and never played the game until he was almost 20, and a rookie stepping in for a HoF talent. I predict that they will be the best two LT's in the game by 2025.

without a great LT in this league you wont win much. When Tyron went down he was threw into the fire and has been near elite. Micah is an alpha dog and the team leader, but right now if this kid went down, we will have 40 year old Jason peters left to start there. Its a good debate. We have 2 outstanding players...generational ,WE are blessed.
I completely agree about LT and Smith has been a Godsend. That said we are talking about MVP. Smith has had a few shaking moments. Parsons has literally turned a defense around and might be the best player in the whole league. That TD yesterday was ridiculous. Guy covered about 50 yards on the play.

Yes Micah is a friggin beast..ELITE. But drum roll......SO IS LEFT TACKLE Tyler Smith. This kid is already elite. We don't win 6 games without him so far. He was quiet yesterday because he mauled his guy all day and not 1 penalty on him. Kid is a steal in rd 1, MAYBE of the entire draft. He makes guys look silly. Kudos to Will McClay once again saving our bacon.

I just hope people here don't get too emotional why you said that and don't think about why you did. I agree we don't win 6 games with Ball or any other back up we have at tackle. I'm too lazy to look to see what the other cats are doing that were drafted in the 1st round with him. Another player I would throw in the that steal pile is Sam Williams. He hasn't played a lot but he's made the most of it. I think later in the season we will give Parsons more rest and put Williams in his place. Then we can see what this kid can do.

What's he not doing that the elite LTs are?
Grading out as an elite LT. PFF (yes, I know) ranks him middle of the pack among LTs. You can criticize their evaluations, but elite LTs rate higher.
Elite LTs aren't panalized as often as he has been, either.
Those are just quantitative things. If you watch him and then go back and watch Tyron, you can pretty easily see the difference.
Again, what he's done is terrific. His potential is immense. Let's just not go completely crazy.

This 100%. Played well but not a dominant force.

Indeed. I mean I was concerned, but I don't even sweat him anymore. Best tackle in the league by years end I think. He is on his way.He is special.

You seem sold on Tyler. I had not given the lad much thought but I am glad others, too, are getting respects.
And yes, if he turns pro bowler it's just another win for McClay.

For the sake of the OP, I'll skip the obvious choice, #11, and add some options.

I'm sticking with Cooper Rush as 1st half Team MVP.
This season would've been over already without him.

I wasnt at first. I was very wrong. Never thought he would develop so fast. Yes, I am sold. I think philbin deserves credit as well. Steele, now the kid. Dont look now, McGovern is playing well too. Tyler Biadasz as well. Many all but wrote the center off but he has been quietly handling his business. But the key is Tyler Smith. He makes it all work. I think Peters is helping the kid learn quickly.

not MVP, but I think Conner McGovern has stepped up his play at LG.

The left side of the line: Smith-McGovern/Peters-Biadasz are better than I expected going into the season after Tyron went down.

They're not perfect, but you can see the development (especially Smith)
