Detroit and Philadelphia are proof that it’s not. You take best player on the board if Banks is there at 13 you take him. We have to late first round picks on the line. That is not wasting capital on the most important position group on your team next to quarterback.
He is not going to be the best player available, especially if they view him as a guard

I wouldn’t love OL in the 1st…but if Banks are Graham are clear cut BPA and much better than the next player available I could get on board.

Would rather trade down…but if we don’t have a partner make the pick.

I agree completely. The most important thing in drafting is just making sure that you hit on a player. I'd much rather hit on an early OL pick than miss on a riskier player i dont like as much because it’s a more premium position. As long as you can get a player on the field I think you just trust your draft board in the early rounds.
:hammer:We don’t really draft well. We draft best when we take the BPA on the board ala Micah, CeeDee, and Bebe in the later rounds. When we get cute we get crap.

I would hate to draft a offensive lineman, cornerback, running back, and safety but if Banks, Johnson, Jeanty, and Starks are at 13, I am running to the podium with my draft card. The Cowboys only do well with elite talent.

Def 2 needs…but there’s a lot more in the conversation that are big needs.
I personally think the need to invest high value assets into stopping the run is getting overblown. There’s a lot factors that go into stopping the run…and 1 of them is not having a slow paced offense that results in a lot of FG’s and punts.

Not a great example with Detroit. They have three first rounders on their OL (Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow, Penei Sewell).

We have the most pro bowl drafted players over the last decade

Dead last in red zone defense, last in rushing td’s given up. Offense is just as bad

And we have won how many Super Bowls or been in any? Pro Bowls are a popularity contest by the way. A better argument is how many all pros.

Banks is the consensus best offensive lineman in the draft he is probably going in the top 10.
He would be behind the top tackles last year, if teams see him as a guard better be the next Zach martin
