... tied the combine record in the bench press with 45 reps.

Would love to see Petrus end up a Cowboy since I know him and his family.

45 reps? Is that the most ever for an OL at the combine? Jeebus, that's some serious strength!

Please refresh my memory. In addition to OGuard, didn't Petrus also line up as a lead blocker near the goal line? That shows some agility, if he is the guy I'm thinking about...

Not sure how I feel about where he should be drafted. I'm leaning toward the third round, but Gil Brandt has him rated as the second-best guard ... so who knows?

quite a few ppl have him as the second rated guard after iupati and im sure with this preformance, and depending how he does on the other drills, he will rise

I think he's going to be a good player because of his work ethic, good feet and level head, but I haven't seen anything that tells me he's going to be great, so I can't see taking him that high.

Sorry, but your boy needs to do 6 more reps to tie.

The record for bench press at the NFL combine is 51 reps of 225 pounds, set by defensive tackle Justin Ernest of Eastern Kentucky in 1999.

If it's any consolation, Petrus does have the record for an offensive lineman.

51 - Justin Ernest, (DT), Eastern Kentucky - 1999
45 - Mitch Petrus. (OG), Arkansas - 2010
45 - Mike Kudla, (DE), Ohio State - 2006
45 - Leif Larsen, (DT), Texas-El Paso - 2000
44 - Brodrick Bunkley, (DT), Florida State - 2006
43 - Scott Young, (OG), BYU - 2005
42 - Tank Tyler (DT), North Carolina State - 2007
42 - Isaac Sopoaga, (DT), Hawaii - 2004
41 - Terna Nande, (OLB), Miami (OHIO) - 2006
41 - *Igor Olshansky, (DT), Oregon - 2004
40 - Zach Piller, (OT), Florida - 1999
40 - Justin Blalock (OG), Texas - 2007
40 - Manny Ramirez (OG), Texas Tech - 2007

that list is filled with bums and a few solid players like Bunkley and Igor. don't know if being on that list is such a good thing.

yea but he short arming the whole time - he did not lock his arms

The lockout is all triceps... The lower half of the ROM is mostly pecs. A lot of guys don't lock out on their benchpress because it actually makes the exercise easier on your chest by reducing time under tension.
