If you just want hot and filler, just crush up ghost peppers with water and mesa flour and mix it with rice and be done with it.

You're just wasting tomatoes, bell peppers, garlic, and whatever else you put in your chili.

Without beans it is just meat sauce
Not really it's still chili whether it has beans or not..northern recipes tend to put beans in it whereas Texas chili does not

The porcelain screamed, the water boiled, and the air freshener said, "Aw hell no."

That sounds backwards. I would think southern chili would more likely have beans. I'm not sure I've met anyone in NY that is actually from NY that eats beans.

In Texas, everyone except my sister would eat beans. :laugh2:

I've always had beans in my chili and every one I know puts beans in it.

I've seen northerners that put noodles in their chili. That kinda threw me for a loop.

That sounds sort of gross, like a Hamburger Helper casserole or something.
Chili without beans makes me think of warm salsa.

I went to a friends apartment once and he had made some Hamburger Help Chili Mac. That was freaking nasty. I make Chili Mac and love it. (My homemade Chili mixed with Velveeta Shells and Cheese) and it's awesome, but that Hamburger Help one was nasty as hell.

All of the HH's are pretty nasty but just the sight for the Cheeseburger macaroni box makes me want to :puke:

Bad memories from childhood of that stuff

In Texas we do eat alot of beans, pintos, blackeyed peas, butter beans etc, not so much kidney beans....just most Texas chili recipes are without beans, I do know some that do add them I'm just not one of them that likes beans in my chili

I don't mind some beans, as a native texan. Gotta have fritos though, not sure if that ruins being a chili afficianado. I feel like its like putting A1 on a really good steak, ha

And noodles on chili is Cincinnati style, I love spaghetti noodles so I'm sure id like it.

Sounds yummy! I'm gonna try your recipe sometime soon, at least some variation of it. I'll probably leave out the beans. i also like a dollop of sour cream and fresh chopped red onions on top of my chili.

Chili is a base and a topping. There is nothing wrong with Fritos with Chili. Frito Pie is one of my favorite Chili dishes.

Would be awesome to do a CZ meetup and chili cook off. I'll go ahead and award Hos the "Hottest Damn Chili" award in advance.

We put pinto beans that have been cooked with epazote (a southwest or Mexican herb) in our chili as they do not produce gas, so no farting for the first two days but if you serve those beans on the third day, it makes up for lost time.

If we don't eat them by the second day, we compost them.
