My Cowboys stock report after tonight

It’s so obvious that something needs to be done that I can’t see how they don’t.

The coaches need to fess up here and not be telling Jerry and kid what they want to hear, but the reality of it….that they weren’t able to work miracles with these backup types.
It's just tough to find quality backup OTs because every team wants them.

I would probably turn to one of the free agent vets. Obviously, Taylor Decker is the best of those, but he must be looking for an exhorbitent amount to play and maybe a guaranteed starting job. However, there are veterans like Cam Robinson and Jonah Williams out there as well.

Which is why you keep one of him or Thomas to hopefully develop but you go out and get someone that can actually play if needed right now.
Cowboys have the OT's they need. This is no different than when Guyton was drafted. People wanted him gone for 2 years. And now, he looks ready to be a pretty good tackle.

I agree that the DTs struggled, but he also was late getting to some plays. That's on him. The linebackers also did not make a lot of plays in the underneath passing game.
Which is the result when the DLine is getting owned. Man, our DFront was terrible in this game, the solace being that most of them won't even make the 53. I was having nightmares of last season's D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have free thought. You must be a lemming. Enjoy the pom-poms and false hope with the low brow crowd.
the only thoughts you have are garbage. Running around taking shots for likes. You don't have to support everything the Cowboys do to keep from being a whiney ***.

@Kwyn

No idea what Decker is thinking, other than probably wanting in excess of 10m for one season. If that hasn’t been offered yet, not likely to happen now.

Teams don’t really lose starters in August these days due to all the all the bubble wrap.

I also don’t know that he just steps in anywhere and starts, and plays well, immediately.

I want a vet OT and I know his name. I really don’t care just as long as they have some experience.

The first sign of intelligence is the ability to disagree agreeably with others who do not share your viewpoints. Your anger filled posts at a stranger reveal you were not the fastest swimmer.

I think there might be a few reasons. First, both Keegan and Leverett have played well and showed some flexibility to play center, while Cornelius has only played guard this preseason. Second, Cornelius didn't play in this last game because of injury, I believe, so out of sight and out of mind. Third, Cornelius was a late-round pick (sixth-rounder), so there's not as much invested in him and he's not as likely to have teams wanting to take a look at him because he was higher on their boards. (If he had been a fourth-rounder like Shelton, he'd probably be getting the same consideration as Shelton.)
It may be more about the injury like you say, but Cornelius can play guard and has played tackle before so I would think he has some flexibility as well. I really think Keegan and Leverette are fighting each other.

I am curious why they did not play Cornelius at tackle this preseason. I thought he looked pretty decent at right tackle last year when he got opportunities.

I agree on Keegan and Leverett, which is why I think Keegan wins. We claimed Keegan when Philly cut him, so there may be other teams that would be interested in claiming him if we cut him. Leverett has been cut by several teams and was out there for us to pick up late in free agency this year. I think we could get him on the PS.

Stock way up

Jordan Hudson
Sam Howell
Jaishawn Barham / young LB group
Brandon Aubrey

Stock up

Camden Brown
Jonathan Mingo
Several young offensive players

Neutral

Joe Milton — still very much in the QB2 conversation
Phil Mafah
Interior defensive line

Stock down

Offensive tackle depth
Defensive consistency
Penalty/discipline

Biggest unknown

Marist Liufau's injury

Bottom line

I actually come away more positive about the Cowboys than negative. The biggest reason is that the players Dallas needs to evaluate gave them meaningful information.
Fine.....so now the trade bait for Cammy Brown is a 2nd and a 4th round pick.

I can live with that

Because he doesn't have the feet to play OT.

Add Keegan as stock up....the fact he came in and played some center tonight...didn't look out of place is a big plus in my book. I think he made the cut tonight because of his versatility....didn't know that was part of his game. He looks like a natural center.
And that levette kid is pretty good also

Who? Cornelius? As I said, he looked pretty decent at it when given the chance. Doesn't mean with extended time there that his bad feet wouldn't show up. There are reasons he was a sixth-round pick, just as there are reasons Thomas was a seventh.

Are we still getting a 1st round pick for him like everyone was saying we could last week?

People were saying the Dolphins would give us their Top 5 pick for him 5 days ago. Is that still a thing?
Try not to exaggerate too much. There were one of two people saying anything close to that and most replies were that it was a ridiculous idea. We do have some posters here that a are out of touch with reality (no pun intended), but saying 'everyone' is pretty inaccurate. Seems like you are trying to take credit for being contrary to a common opinion when that silly idea of a 1st rounder was something just about everyone thought was silly.

Disclaimer: I do have a bunch of posters in ignore, so if there were more people supporting that, then I am sorry (though it does show that I've made good choices on my ignore list ;)
