As far as talent, I think we would all love to have Suh on this team. I don't think it will happen though. So I wanted to add a list of free agents that I would be interested in who will be available. There will be a common trend amongst these players. They will all be 27 or younger.

Resign

Rolando McClain, ILB, 26
Got dinged up this season, but would have to think that he is even better with an offseason of work. Guy provides attitude when in shape and healthy.

Bruce Carter, OLB, 27
Light seemed to come on. Yes I know that he played SAM which isn't a position of priority, but he also starred playing the nickel. guy had 5 INTs and 8 pass defended.

Free Agents

Jason Pierre Paul, DE, 26
It would freak all of us out if this happened. Has been up and down with the Giants. Has the talent when healthy. I think we have a defensive coordinator who would get the very best out of him. Guy can be dominant when he is on.

Nick Fairly, DT, 27
Ok, so this is not Suh, but he can be disruptive against the run as well. He would take over for Hayden and be our 1 technique.

Rahim Moore, FS, 25

With no true Free safety on our roster, this could be our guy. Had 4 INTs and caused 2 fumbles this year. This would allow us to shift Church down to Nickel linebacker in our nickel/dime packages having Wilcox in the game instead of Heath.

Player that I'm excited to have back
Sean Lee

4-3

Barry Church/Rahim Moore
Scandrick/Carr (paycut)
Bruce Carter/Rolando McClain/Sean Lee
JPP/Crawford/Fairley/Lawrence

We still have depth at linebacker as Hitchens can back up all three spots. Wilcox competes with Rahim Moore but I think ultimately looses out to him. Still that competition is something we thrive on. Brent gets a full offseason to get in shape. We will also have Okoye for the offseason to see what he has.

We then draft best player available. Even with these upgrades, I wouldn't shy away from another pressure player. I definitely wouldn't shy away from a corner.

I like it but I'm not a big fan of Fairley. If we don't get Suh, i would like to a get a true 1T in the draft. I like spending for a top DE.

I'm not really enamored with JPP, but he did have more sacks in the final stretch of the season than any Cowboy. Was actually as disruptive as he had been since his rookie year.

I think coaches like what they have at both safety spots.

thats because the next option is Jeff freaking Heath, they have trying to land a top safety in the draft but just missing out recently.

JPP, Fairley and Moore. I don't want to sound bitter but these aren't very good players at this point in time. JPP and Fairley can actually help our depth but I think its important to realize what these players are. These are not stars. Moore....he's already what we have in Wilcox and Church. He's not a upgrade either. If JPP and Fairley can be had for the low I like those signings. But its important to understand that this defense needs to do far more than that to improve this D.

Moore played really well this year. JPP is still young and has talent but is clearly better than anyone we have at DE. Fairly is better than anything we have at the 1. How are they depth players?

Again, I think coaches like their starting safeties. No matter who the backups are.

Good call on Rahim Moore. I'm not all in with JPP and I think his best days are over. I'd try and get Kevin Hardy here or Brian Orakpo. Orakpo is a pretty good passrusher from the DE position and doesn't fit the OLB scheme in a 3-4. Put him in his natural position and he'll get us some sacks. Plus we can get him for cheap.

I don't think Suh is gonna come here also. He'll cost too much and Lions wants to franchise him at 23 million next. Thats crazy and we can get 2 or 3 good players in FA with that price tag.

Moore is not a ball hawk. He's what we already have at safety. I'd rather keep what we have then to waste money on Raheem Moore.

JPP is young but he hasn't been a real pass rusher in 3 years. The guy has not lived up to his potential. I think when people see his name they think of how dominant he was 3 years ago when the Giants actually had a solid defensive line. He's just a guy at this point in his career. We have that at DE right now and IMO Mincey is far more disruptive than he is at this point. I'm not against him. I'm just not willing to spend big money on just a guy. And right now, he's young and he has a reputation. That's usually what gets decent money in free agency. I'm not willing to pay for "potential".

And once again, this team already has a guy the level of Fairly on the defensive line. But I will take him on my team for decent money.

IMO, this defense needs ATLEAST 2 impact players on it. These guys aren't impactful. A guy like Hughes for the Bills can potentially be that. If Greg Hardy is let go, he can potentially be that.

Moore is a true FS... He may not be a ballhawk though. There are very few ballhawks in the NFL. He had more INTs than what both of our safeties had combined. JPP had 10.5 sacks... Again that is more than all of our defensive ends combined...

Hardy is being investigated for rape... Does that sound like a RKG? Hughs is 28... I would take Hughes but keep in mind, he benefitted from some talent around him and wasn't double teamed. JPP was. He has also shown that he has it when healthy. I would rather pay for potential than pay a guy who is already in decline.

JPP is on my short list too if the price is right and we decide to be active in free agency. He was able to get his sack total up into the double digits while also playing the run very well this year. I think Rod can get him playing up to his potential.

That is what I would hedge my bet on. Have Rod interview him and have the ultimate say so on whether to offer him a deal.

Hardy is being accused of rape. So was CJ Spillman and was acquitted. If CJ Spillman was charged why is he still on the team?

Hardy took a year of because he is appealing his case. There is a likelihood that charges will be dropped since the accuser is a known gold digger (ex girlfriend). We'll see whats gonna happen.

JPP wasn't double teamed that much. His best days are behind him. Thats all because injuries he suffered in the past. Thats unfortunate.

He had 10.5 sacks... As for Hardy... If that is the case, why would the Panthers move on?
