I think the crucifixion of a guy with 32 posts was unnecessary....he probably doesn't realize that most of those guys aren't even allowed to interview for the positions since they are under contract elsewhere in the same or better positions....you'd have to make all of them assistant head coaches.
Why is that necessary? DeHaven just took a complete, lateral move to go to Sea. It's happened in the past.

He was granted permission by Jerry.

I thought his contract was up?
February 1st. Prior to that date permission is needed. Jerry granted it for him and Zimmer to do lateral moves.

Michael Irvin WR coach. The chance to work for his old boss would lure him in a heartbeat from ESPN. And who better to get the most out of and control T.O. than his idol, mentor, and buddy!
Charles Haley DL coach. He would be great based on interviews I have heard.

Ever heard the term. Those who can do, those who can't coach. Irvin and Haley were good players and will probably be crappy coaches. Look at Mr Magic Johnson, among many others. How many all-time great players ever became all-time great coaches?

I see Mike Singletary's name being thrown around lately, but notice he didn't even get promoted in San Fran. He is still just a linebackers coach. (I don't know whats with the stupid assistant head coach titles being thrown around these days. I believe it has to do with hiring one coach away from another team. Though I believe the NFL outlawed that idiot title garbage as a loophole.

So here's my take:

When someone puts "you're gonna love this" as part of a post's title I think the gloves are pretty much off. Frankly, I rarely go for being told what I'm gonna love, but that's just me.

I did not get the impression that the content was written to stimulate an honest, thought-provoking discussion, especially in light of the dozen or more Jimmy Johnson threads that have hit the boards in the last couple of days (ok, maybe it's not a dozen), several of which have had more of the question-asking flavor to them. Items like "wouldn't this be cool???" and "the above is realistic" don't leave me with the impression that the content was thought through at all.

What happens to the next poster with less than X posts that creates yet another off-the-wall thread? They may not all fit in the ridiculous coching suggestions category. Maybe we need a comic relief zone where these things can be moved at the mods' discretion.

Now as sarcasm, I think it's brilliant, but we need a sarcasm smilie in that case.;)

Yes, this post was intended for a little, light-heartedness to soften up all of this seriousness. Is this all a stretch?? Yeah. Is it possible. Yeah to that too. I mean, WHO KNOWS?? Did you think Jones would be able to lure Parcells originally? Who honestly though gibbs would come back for Snyder?? Point is, you truly never do know. Besides zero, you need to chill. I'm personal friends with Moose Johnston, my father-in-law's great friends with Roger Staubach, and my buddy is a Regional Scout working for Ireland so i do have some inside info if need be...i'm guessing a whole lot more than you do! Am I claiming this is inside info? By no means but stranger things have happened!
