My emotional investment

I started watching and became a Cowboys fan in 1977 as a 7 year old kid. I cried for days after the Frisco loss, I think it was 79 or 80 or whatever year that was, the catch. Lived through the Danny White years, I loved Danny btw. Was back in Heaven in the 90s, and then Jerry Jones fired Jimmy and all hell broke loose.

Even then, back when I joined back in 2004/05, I would get in arguments all day over Romo, the board hated me. I also did play-by-play for every game, what I'm saying is, I was all Cowboys all the time.

But after a while, it was just unhealthy for me and my long-term mental health. So now, I occasionally come on the talk about something I've read on here, and it seems like my only goal is to turn people against the one man who's responsible for this. I just hate and despise this man and his family.

The right coach could win with this team, Jerry won’t hire the right coach because it would require a personality that will rub his ego the wrong way…so we’re stuck.

Inherited it from my dad. Growing up in Toronto, they were basically the only team on TV besides Buffalo. I even loved the cheerleaders as a four-year-old boy

I watched that team destroy everyone for what felt like forever. Carried that fire in my belly for years.

Jerry Jones slowly took that from me.
And I will never forgive him for it.

What used to be a proud, dominant franchise has become a laughing stock, largely because of one man’s ego and his complete inability to admit when something isn’t working.

The Green Bay debacle in the playoffs and the total lack of real action afterward sealed it for me.

I’ve been called a hater. Told I’m not a real fan. Told to find a new team.
All because I’m no longer emotionally invested the way I used to be.

I still watch. I still cheer. I still hate losing.
But the fire isn’t there anymore.

And honestly… that’s healthier. At least for me.

Anyone else feel what I am saying?

I have almost the exact same story, just from Ottawa.

My older brother cheered for them, then I followed suit.

I do still watch the games, for the most part, I just care WAY less. It's kind of sad.

Do Habs fans put on a fight? I always assumed they would curl into the fetal position and suck on their thumbs.

I'm about an hour from Montreal and surrounded by them. I grew up trash talking back and forth with them and eventually married one. They are pansies but usually likable pansies.

They did flood their 911 system with calls after a basic check on Max Paccioretty by Zedeno Chara in the 2011 playoffs. They wanted Chara arrested. It's my solemn duty to never let them forget that BS. Lol

I am right there with you. I absolutely do not care anymore.
