I’ve done a few but I think this one was my favorite. At 10, Lance was on the board with trade offers from Arizona and NO.

Arizona won with 16 + 49 for pick 10. Surtain was off the board but Slater and Horn were still there.

16. Micah Parsons (LB)
44. Eric Stokes (CB)
49. Richie Grant (S)
75. Josh Myers (OC)
99. Tyler Shelvin (DT)

Myers was opportunistic as a standout beast on board but IMO centre is a sneaky need and the extra picks gives a bit of freedom. We have so many needs to hit that a small trade down is very appealing. That could be four starters with the caveat that Shelvin is a two down starter.

Reminds me of my own:

  • 10. Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama

    44. Richie Grant S UCF

    75. Dylan Moses LB Alabama

    99. Tyler Shelvin DT LSU

    115. Patrick Jones EDGE Pittsburgh

    138. Monty Rice LB Georgia

    179. Camryn Bynum CB California

    192. Tre Brown CB Oklahoma

    227. Alaric Jackson OT Iowa

    238. Khyiris Tonga DT BYU

If Surtain was on the board rather than Lance then that could very well have been my 1st seven picks. But with a Surtain gone, and a really good trade price, I couldn’t justify Horn.

I hear ya. I’ve done the same in a few of the many mock drafts I’ve done as well.

Like the class, but don't think they take a true NT like Shelvin.

It's a little easier to address needs with a trade down, but they haven't done that in several years. Think they will make a pick at 10. If anything, they may trade up sometime throughout the draft cause they have extra picks due to the comp selections.

Given the awful state of the defense, as well as the need for a true speed receiver as well as an offensive tackle prospect, I think they can make good use of all the picks they can get.

In my opinion of course.

Let's hope they hit on their 4 top 100 picks and find 1-2 future starters on day 3. A simplistic scheme like Quinn's makes it easier for a rookie to make an immediate impact. Think the focus is at CB/FS/1T DT and LB.

I sure hope so, that’s where mine would be. A DE wouldn’t shock me either.

Yes. Don't think they will be able to rebuild the defense in 1 draft. Think it's unrealistic to expect an all defensive draft class. Draft 2-3 impact starters on defense.

Unless a receiver or offensive lineman of value is too good to pass up, I would use every pick I had on defense.

Most of us fans would, but who knows if they will. They may take that Miami TE at 75, who they have shown a lot of interest with.

I sure hope not. They’ve already got Schultz - who was a top 10 TE in several categories last year- Jarwin who they paid, Sprinkle who they just signed, and McKeon, who they liked enough to carry on the roster last year.

Every one of those TEs are very upgradable. I would still take a TE as early as the 3rd round especially the Miami player is still on the board.

I disagree. Again, Schultz had virtually the EXACT season that Hunter Henry had, and he got paid a boatload of money from New England. No rookie (other than Pitts in round 1) is “upgrading” on that. And they paid Jarwin as well. A TE would be a waste this year.

I agree, need more help on defense then the TE position.

Yeah. They got top 10 production from their backup TE. And now they have their starter coming back from injury, as well as a free agent signing and a developmental fourth guy in McKeon. Few teams are in as good of shape at the position as the Cowboys already are.
