Show me stats....

Austin vs. Stanback.

Austin- 5 catches, 46 yards, 0TDs
Stanback- 4 catches, 39 yards, 1 TD

Stanback will make the team, even if it means cutting Austin

You still have Stanback over Austin???

Is there a "Football Reason" for doing this?

I'm going to be really surprised if Stanback isn't cut.

No, you aren't.

You know Stanback is making the team. You hated the picked; still hate the pick, and WANT him cut. But you know he is making the team.

The only reason you are saying you'd be "surprised" if he makes the team is because it will allow you to continue to ***** and moan when he does make the team.

I think you are 90 percent correct.

The only reason he makes the team...politics. Someone has to cover the rear for taking this kid in the 4th. [our 3rd overall pick...]

That about covers it.

I have Austin on the team as well as Stanback, but if you honestly think Stanback is getting cut you are more ******** than it first appeared

Brown was my #54 I just couldnt find anyone to cut for him. Elam is a very good ST'er so I had to keep him

Keeping Ayodele at NT instead of Bowen at DE was tough too

Yes I was wavering on Brown vs. Elam also. I thought Elam because he can return KO's if needed. But went with Brown for more potential later on as a DB.
I had Bowen over Ayodele. But good thought about the NT vs. DE. That didn't play into my decision as much though.

I was also wavering on keeping Grammatica ove one of the FB's, which probably would have been keeping Hoyte, just because of the experience. BUt the more I thought, we can always sign a vet K.

I wonder if we won't see Polite make the team and see Anderson on the practice squad. Polite is really only serviceable as a blocker but IMO he catches the ball out of the backfield pretty well.

Also, I like Courtney Brown's upside but I also like Abe Elam's ability to play now. I know he is a special teams monster but I would almost rather see us keep Brown and Elam and cut Davis, cause at safety Davis always has and I think he always will look like dog poop.

I might try to slide Marten to the PS and give him a year with the strength coaches. In his place I would probably keep Bowen on the DL.

As far as 3rd string QB goes, I don't know what the big deal is. We went the whole season last year without one on our roster and Matt Moore hasn't shown me anything warranting us cutting someone else just so we don't have to worry about him clearing wavers. If your looking for another project QB then I say put Bartel on the PS and see how he develops.

I know nobody likes a rookie kicker but at this point I would go with one kicker and say arrivederci to Grammatica.

Because we know we can cut Polite 5 times a year and he will be availible to resign :)

we cut our 4th rounder last year, so if politics didn't save green, why would they save Stanback? He's gonna make the team because of his upside, and is probably just as good of a WR now as Austin.

Prepare to be surprised, because you're going to be. I have no idea why, everyone else has it figured out.

Anyone who thinks Stanback is going to be cut doesn't know or understand football. The kid has a tremedous upside especially as a WR. Granted he doesn't run great routes yet but he catches the ball well and his speed is better than anyone except Newman.

These are the same people who would have cut Bob Hayes years ago because he was a track star. Stanback will start in two years, he is a bigger, faster version of Irvin which can only be good for us.

Going to the roster, the one thing we can be sure of is that there is probably one or two if not more guys that currently aren't on the roster that will be come Tuesday or Wednesday.

I still believe we will be trading one or two guys and at the same time acquiring one or two via trade.

See on two QBs on the roster and 1 Kicker. Find it hard to believe we aren't going to do something with Ellis and just wait until he can play in week 7 or something like that. Have to believe Curtis makes the third TE but depending on what we do at WR or LB or CB might make it a necessity to only keep 2 TEs. If Thompson's ankle is bad then the KR duties fall to Stanback, Austin and/or Urban.

Does anyone really believe we are going to let Newman return punts this year, not with that injury. And Crayton is at best so-so at punt returns. Urban can return punts and kickoffs while Austin is just a WR and KR. Honestly how many 6th WR get into a game. Believe the answer is Zero.

The only surprise I could see would be if an offer from the Jets for a OG like Kosier came down the pike and we just couldn't refuse it. I could see us going with McQ and Proctor at OG, although I would prefer the likes of the vet Kosier.

How does the knee injury that Carpenter sustained last night effect our LB corp. Will we keep Saldi or Long or Phillips since Ellis is still out? Right now we have 5 healthy LBs. Burnett out with ankle surgery although should be back in the first or second week, don't know about Carpenter and well Ellis is out indefinitely.

It will be interesting on Saturday.

I understand football perfectly well.

I also will not be surprised/shocked if Stanback lands on our PS.

Nobody is gonna sign a project player to their active list Sunday.

This has been tried before with eudcan...I believe Hostile and me wanted to make a wager on something else (i don't remember what it was), but he fled faster than a burgler!!

In other words, he never puts his money where his mouth is...

Just FYI...

Carry on...

I can understand Alycia Lane blowing Rich Eisen's mind. She had the hots for him. What's your excuse?
