I hear no growing concern about his injury from the Cowboys. They are simply getting a 2nd opinion. Which is standard protocol, especially on a player like Jones who was a 1st round draft pick.

The shoulder that Byron Jones hurt when he collided with Scandrick was the same shoulder he had surgery on recently.

This bears watching.

Any time a player can't play football and the injury isn't definitively diagnosed, there is a cause for concern.

Misleading thread title

Agreed. I expected at least a link to an article claiming "inside information" that the actual FO has growing concerns. Not that the OP has growing concerns lol.

Guess I should've known better.

If we closely monitor the situation or not, I have a feeling the outcome will be the same

Seem it is lessening concerns not growing concerns he was in for the walk through on special teams and said he was fine. MRI was neg so right now I have little concern over Jones shoulder.

Good point. I also got the vibe that this "second opinion" business is more precautionary than anything.

I think there's nothing wrong with showing a bit of concern.

Yesterday, the Cowboys say he's fine, no biggie, will hold him out, should be ready in a few days.

Today, it comes out that the MRI is negative but.............. he's getting a 2nd opinion and the injury was on his previously injured shoulder.

I don't think it's trolling to have/express some concern here. It very well could be nothing. I have to admit, when I saw that tweet about getting a 2nd opinion, I raised an eyebrow.

The ranch has earned our speculation from their past on sharing these injury details and minimizing recovery timelines.

Sure hope so. A sprain in the shoulder that he had surgery on has to have them worried, not just now, but in future hits that are coming his way. Shoulders can be problematic for some players.

Rookies need work in camp to contribute the first year, so he needs to get back soon if possible.

He isn't an average rookie. Average rookies don't line up at almost every spot in the secondary and excel in practice like he has done.

He got schooled a bit on some quick routes against San Diego. He needs reps badly, as do all rookies.

He played at UConn for goodness sake on an absolutely craptastic defense. He needs work.

But I'm quietly hopeful that they found an Ed Reed type of hawking safety. That would be glorious.

It would also save him from taking a lot of hits if he's the deep safety.

In general, safeties make more tackles than corners do. I think they have to be more physical.
