Trade 13 to Miami for 18 and 50- Slater is still on the board at 10 and Miami continues to be aggressive and adds an elite o-line prospect after taking a WR at 6.

18- Jaelan Phillips DE Miami
44- Eric Stokes CB Georgia
50- Daviyon Nixon DT Iowa
75- Jamar Johnson FS Indiana
99- Brady Christensen OT BYU
115- Jamie Newman QB Wake Forest
138- Isiah McDuffie LB Boston College
179- Dylan Shoener TE Iowa State

No better way to improve the D than to get after the QB, and Phillips and Nixon are great at that. Both have elite physical traits to rush the passer with potential that is still untapped. Adding these 2 to the front 4 makes things MUCH different for our D.

Pair those pass rushers with a CB with elite size and speed that’s been battle tested for 3 years in the SEC in Stokes and the D has made significant strides.
Johnson is an ascending prospect that represents a possible future starter at FS, a position that is still very much in flux.

Christensen is a very underrated OT prospect that presents LT upside in the near future. Zach Wilson has such pretty highlights because he had all day to throw, many thanks to Christensen.

Newman has plenty of experience and enough NFL traits to make him a solid NFL backup capable of starting a few games if need. Very important to fill this role well and for cheap.

McDuffie is a typical hard nosed prospect from BC. Has enough athletic ability to hang in the nfl as depth and special teams contributor at worst

Shoener is a gigantic 6’6 270 blocking TE that can do that job early and often. Blake Bell replacement.

IMIO, all of them got drafted a round too early

Does the tackle beat out Ty Nsekhe, Mitch Hyatt, Brandon Knight, Terrance Steele or Isaac Alarcon? (last 4 are young and have been through professional strength training)
Because he isn't beating out Smith or Collins -- unless injury, and that position seems pretty full, unless you are drafting real high.
I don't see DE taken in the first because he isn't setting down, Tank, Gregory or Basham -- I don't think they draft a guy in the first that won't start - at least by mid year.

Lots of holes not getting filled with this draft, IMO. Like MLB and 1T.

You keep Knight, and the rest of the those OT’s are junk. Yes, Christensen would have no problem earning a roster spot.

And we were flat out bad at rushing the QB last year. We don’t have a player on the roster that has sniffed 10 sacks in 2+ years. And yes...I know THIS is the year for Gregory . The idea that we don’t need more DE help is laughable to me.

Get an inside rush that pushes the pocket back, and Tank and Gregory both look like All-Pros. Dallas weakness in the middle of the line is the big problem, not the end chasers.

A lot of good players there top to bottom. They need to generate pressure on passing downs.

Impossible to evaluate any mock if you don't tell us who was on the board when you traded back.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Stokes is gone before day one ends. Especially with Farley's back procedure--regardless of how how minimal it was.

Not unpopular with me at all. I’m crossing my fingers 1 of Stokes or Newsome will make it to 44. With that said....would you take Farley at 44? Because I would

Yup...I think he sneaks in as well...well I actually have him top of round 2 in my mock to Jacksonville.

I think Phillips is a good at 18 if you can somehow guarantee that he stays healthy and doesn’t quit football if he gets another concussion in a sport where concussions are not unusual at all

no one can

so with that I’m not on board with taking him at all

our 1 and 2 picks have to be immediate starters and we have multiple areas where value will line up with need

No way. You can quibble with some of the spots, but this is about as close to realistic as I've seen on this board.

Christensen and Newman might go well before they're slotted here, if anything.

its all speculation...but hey its fun to debate.

I can really only go by talent...nfl teams have a staff of people working through these types of issues for months. I understand bringing up the cause for concern, but how can you have such a definite opinion without actually knowing the details? From what I read he was suggested to medically retire by actual doctors, not just him solely choosing to “quit”. And it’s also hard to pinpoint, but that very well may have been more due to a severe wrist injury he suffered in a car accident than the concussions alone.

But again, neither of us can really know for sure without doing the due diligence of an nfl team. We’ll see how high/low he ends up drafted

I agree with what you’re saying

If the medicals clear him and when I interview him he comes across as someone committed them maybe

This is one of my favorite mocks - Christensen at 99 is a pick I love.

I think I'd probably take Ojulari over Phillips (assuming he's there), because I think he's a better compliment to DLaw and Gregory, but this is a haul.

Amazing how year after year...you keep coming up with mocks...I wouldn't be caught dead with...lol
