I don't like Mykel Williams from UGA. He was with us for 3 years and was never consistent. He would dominate a game like he did @Texas and then disappear for a few games. He is a prototypical DE but a lot of his draft stock is based on projection. He all the physical tools and size.....but his production never matched.

PFF.........Jeanty is 99th percentile forced tackle attempt and 98th percentile run after contact. In fact, I read somewhere over 60% of his yards were after contact. What separates this kid from the pack is his ability to take it to the house on any carry.......similar to what we are seeing with Barkley. Something else hardly mentioned is his vision .........some actually compared it to Emmitt.
But Barkley played in the Big 10. You have to be cautious comparing these stats compiled in the Mountain West where the level of defense he faced is nothing close to the Big 10 or SEC.

I was dubious of Travon Walker when he came out due to similar reasons (limited production at UGA), but he’s shown himself to be a player.

Pearse is about the same size as Lawrence was when we drafted him, and is similar in the way that he playes bigger than his size
I’m predicting that in the post-draft press conference, Jerry will explain that we considered Pearce but ultimately passed on him because “we really like the progress Sam Williams has made in his rehab and we expect him to compete for a starter’s role in training camp…”

Then Williams will inevitably be PUP’d for the first six weeks (or whatever it is) to start the regular season.

I disagree on all of that. I think you are both underestimating the prospects and overestimating our talent on hand.

Ive championed Smiths development, but he is and always might be a one dimensional player. Either Harmon or Nolan walk into the building better players.

Sam Williams is a one dimensional pass rusher coming off a knee injury. Kneeland is a solid player right now, but still a ways away before you can feel good about playing him on passing downs. Both Williams and Pearce are better players at this point and worlds ahead of where he was as a prospect.
We agree to disagree. This is one of the worst drafts in the last 10 years. It is what it is. There are like 12 first round grades and the average is usually 18-20.

I think Harmon could compete to become the starting 3T if Osa departs.
I like Harmon. I just think it takes time for defensive linemen to make an impact. The kid is not going to make a difference early and more likely to struggle then be a plug and play starter. We are so spoiled with CeeDee and Micah. It takes to even become a Diggs/Tyler Smith type of player. I just don’t think we have the patience to wait on these guys.

We should cover our basis at DT via FA but I wouldn’t rule our Harmon from making an impact year 1.

I think he’s similar if not a better prospect than the kid from UT that went to the Hawks and been good his rookie year.

We need our first round picks to be above average. It’s unfortunate we don’t use free agency to let this kids develop but if we draft Harmon at 12, we would probably not keep Osa. We have a sink or swim philosophy with our first round picks.

There really are not that many players in this draft that you look at and think these guys might be a HOF player sometime.

I think he makes an impact right away as a run defender, will take some development as a pass rusher.

Lack of vision is why I don't like Henderson. I have heard comparisons to Emmitt, but to be considered that high, he is going to have to run a fast 40 time.

I was tempted to include Johnson, but there is almost no chance he lasts to 12. I was even skeptical of putting Williams, but I think there is an outside chance of that
Keeping hearing Dane say he might not run cause he lacks elite speed for the position, this might make him fall.
