My initial pick 12 wish list

The piggyback on this, what will be interesting if McCarthy stays is if Zimmer walks. I dont know that they will or even should fire him, but he may just retire
I heard Jerry say they are a package deal, perhaps if Zimmer leaves, so does MM.

dt's are a blind spot of mine. can you expound on this?
He has very good quickness,a perfect 3T but also a good run defender.i saw the georgia game and he was very good.

☆mykel williams,de-georgia
☆kenneth grant,dt-michigan
☆jalon walker,lb-georgia
☆ben morrison,cb-notre dame
☆ashton jeanty,rb-boise st
☆kelvin banks,ot-texas
☆luther burden,wr-mizzou

just gimmie 1 of'm.

Harmon/Nolan are not starting over Mazi. No matter how much the board hates him. He is better than both right now. Plus his offseason in the weight room/offseason program will do wonders. They both would be solid rotation players. We probably can get that with our second round pick because of the tackle depth.

Pierce/Williams would not start over Sam Williams/Kneeland. Pierce would need to gain some weight. Williams (one of my favorites) needs to develop. Both could be rotation players but I don’t see year one studs.

The Cowboys need an X. Burden is more of a Z receiver.

Banks is the right guard today on our offensive line.

Not a bad list. I see where you are going. I hate the this draft. Not many first round players overall.
You nailed it brother! :hammer:

My mock draft would follow your thinking and be totally different than most for the same reasons you stated.

Trade down from #12 into the early-to-mid 20s while picking up a late 2nd rounder and a 4th. Then go from there.

The strength of the draft is in the second and third rounds. A trade back into the 20s gives the Cowboys extra 2nd and third round picks. You make a team like Washington, who wants one of those corners, pay a tax. That has the possibility of giving us 5 starters by the end of the 2025 season. That would be a great haul. Plus you know the Cowboys don’t do free agency. We need to be smart for once.

I laugh at the idea that Mazi is better than Graham for certain; and Grant I think as well.
not sure he is better than any of the top four DTs
certainly they all had better college tape than he did

Mazi was probably much closer to a late 2nd round prospect. In fact when his name heated up in Cowboys circles the day of the draft, I thought thats where they were looking at him. Mazi would have to take a big step in 2025 to be equal to what Grant will probably be as a rookie. And Graham, thats a definite "lol" scenario

Everyone on my list would be a walk in starter. The DT's and DE's would easily play 50% of the snaps. Although I know you dont like Burden, he would be an instant upgrade over any WR behind Lamb

At DT Mazi may be a nominal starter over Nolan because he is 1T. But Nolan would probably end up playing 60% or so of the snaps
A pass rush with Micah, Nolen, Osa and Sam williams/whoever would be alot better than putting these guys like dlaw at dt or limited guys like gholston. Its a start but it would go a long way in helping to make this an actual playoff defense. Teams that can rush 4 win the real games
