I said post because i don't need to see the CB's. 1Rd- Preston Smith De. Mississippi st. 6'5 270. I want Dupree, however he will be gone and Smith has impressed me with Senior Bowl play and Combine. 2nd- Daryl Williams. T. Oklahoma. 6'5. 325. Doug Free replacent , Parnell is a career backup. Williams plays with bad intentions bookends with Tyron future. 3Rd- Michael Bennett. DT. Ohio st. 6'2. 288. Little undersized but great for what we do causes havoc and will flourish with Marinelli. 4Th- Taiwan Jones. ILB. Michigan St.. 6'3 245. Great size like Mclain. While he is a fa and done deal with possible suspension, Cowboys have to address. Can move Lee. Sign Durant or Carter back not both. Hitchens has proven he can play. 5th- Ladarius Gunther. Cb . Miami. 6'1. 200. Great size anothed great Senior bowl play always around ball. Sign Sterling Moore. One bad game cant take away a year of promise. Also Patmon not sure if thats his name we have good young guys. Scandrick and Mo starting, id make Carr a june 1 cap casualty. Time to move on from him. No 6 rd because of Mclain pick up but 2 , 7 rders. . 7Th-Christion Jones Wr/kr/pt. Alabama. 5'11 187. Terrance Plummer ILB Central Florida 6'2 235.

I love this draft actually, only thing I'd change would be a trade back into the top of the second to take DE Smith, whom I really like also. Then use the extra pick in the third for either Tyler Lockett or CB Golson or G Matias/Mapet. Love the picks. Also would be happy with LB Stephone Anthony vice Taiwan but either/or.

I think we have 3 7th rounders don't we? One for Lissemore, one for McClain and our own which I don't think we lost in Edwards trade because he didn't stick long enough.

I think you need to switch the 1st rounder and the 3rd rounder. Bennett will not go that late and I don' t think Smith is a first rounder.

How do you arrive at 2 vs 3 7th rounders? Got a 7 in the Ro trade. Got a 7 for Lissemore. Gave up a conditional 7 for LaVar Edwards but my understanding is the conditions weren't met.

I had to reformat it to make sense of it.

1Rd- Preston Smith De. Mississippi st. 6'5 270. I want Dupree, however he will be gone and Smith has impressed me with Senior Bowl play and Combine.
He looks like a LDE that could be available with the Cowboys 2nd round pick. Scout's Inc has him ranked 60 and NFLDS has him ranked 89.

2nd- Daryl Williams. T. Oklahoma. 6'5. 325. Doug Free replacent , Parnell is a career backup. Williams plays with bad intentions bookends with Tyron future.
If they re-sign Parnell, he will be the starter regardless of who is drafted. That's OK because Williams could play OG.

3Rd- Michael Bennett. DT. Ohio st. 6'2. 288. Little undersized but great for what we do causes havoc and will flourish with Marinelli.
If he lasts until the 3rd, I definitely don't see him making it to the Cowboys pick in the 3rd.

4Th- Taiwan Jones. ILB. Michigan St.. 6'3 245. Great size like Mclain. While he is a fa and done deal with possible suspension, Cowboys have to address. Can move Lee. Sign Durant or Carter back not both. Hitchens has proven he can play.
I'm not sure that he has enough speed for Marinelli's scheme.

This seems like a good pick.

No 6 rd because of Mclain pick up but 2 , 7 rders. .

7Th-Christion Jones Wr/kr/pt. Alabama. 5'11 187.
OK.

7Th-Terrance Plummer ILB Central Florida 6'2 235.
OK.

I lose track of what they gave up, but it's widely published that the Cowboys have these picks:
7(211), 7(218)

Dane Brugler had Preston to us at 27 in a mock a few weeks back. Wouldn't surprise me. Starts at LDE and kicks inside in nickel with Spencer at LDE.

BEST mock draft I've seen so far this off season. First four picks are right on and your 4th rounder is extremely solid. I watched every single game that Jones played at MSU and he had a very similar career to Hitchens at Iowa. Hitch is better in coverage but Jones is a monster run stuffer and would be dynamite on special teams too. I will also say that Bennett is a STOUT DT from OSU that I watched play roughly ten times. No major weaknesses and he could be a difference maker in Rod's rotation from day one. Don't know if he'll be around until the end of the third however.

You can't base much on rankings because his in Senior bowl and his good combine moves him into late 1st possibly. Taiwan Jones your wrong about watch his film. Hellova tackler to be 245. He'd be fine. Only pick i was unsure of is Bennett is probably early 2nd. If hes gone id go Gabe Wright Auburn with 3rd.

Looks pretty good what's your plan for RB?

Id try to sign Murray, franchise Dez. If i cant sign murray....then Dez longterm now , rolldice with Randle, dunbar or get a stopgap rb in fa. Im not drafting one this year.

I'd like to grab David Johnson on day 2. I'm intrigued by his speed, catching ability, 3rd down usage, and ability to return punts/kicks. I think the price tag will be too high on Murray. Some decent FAs out there though, I do like Ingram, and of course Peterson if/when he is cut.

You see what im doing heavy D and only offensive is T and a late Harris replacement. I could easily roll dice for one year with Randlr/Dunbar or a steal like Ingram with this line. Im just not drafting one this year. I also dont understand the love for Parnell i think he sevicable but not everyday starter never understood peoples lovefest with him. Get a stud like Williams now then were set. Then i might be able to run in back of that line. Lol If they let me only run 3 plays.

As much as the Cowboys need guys on the DL... I'm really thinking that the BPA will be at corner, RB, WR or OL.

It is early and anything can happen but IMO there is a good chance they go offense if they stay at 27.

If we lose Murray and don't AT LEAST draft a RB in 1st 4 Rds I will not be very optimistic about the running game. Not only is Randle a relatively unknow commodity, but a increasingly high risk to do something(maybe already done something) bad enough to be suspended. To trust next season on Randle/Williams/Dunbar or a stop gap is not a smart option especially in this RB rich draft.

IMO mock drafts without a full off season plan for FAs should be based on the knowledge we have right now. Some user mocks are only doing this half way. They dont want to draft a RB because they assume AP will be here or Ingram or whomever, then say DL is our biggest need. Why assume RB will be taken care of before the draft but not DL? Mocks should be about what we know right now and if projecting, project the needs of right now. We know Jerry and Stephen have said Dez will be here and keeping both will be difficult at best. Reading between the lines clearly details RB will be a need in the draft unless a starting RB is brought in during free agency, which we have no way of knkwing, or Murray is brought back, which seems unlikely as things stand.

I see the same thing no matter how many scenarios I go through. Its either those options or a bad scheme fit/reach player at 27. Then again I saw a stat that says the Cowboys have traded up/down 80% of the time in the 1st rd since Jerry bought the Cowboys so no telling what will be available at their pick.
