I LOVE Wentz, especially as a guy who will slip a bit because he needs some time to develop.

In this scenario, if we trade down, i'm using the extra picks to trade back up into the first and taking him. I don't care if he's a 2nd round grade, that 5th year option makes a huge difference.

Agree. He's going to be on a very similar path to Garoppolo (sp) IMO.

If we end with a top 5 pick, I'd trade down back to 10-12ish and draft Hargreaves, Jaylon Smith, or Treadwell. Then like you said, back up to nab Wentz.

All for that. There are so many guys in that 7-12 range I feel like we can't really miss there.

Smith and Hargreaves likely won't be there at 10-12................ maybe not even Treadwell.

But there will be some interesting defensive names at that spot........ the DT from Baylor, the OLB from Georgia, etc.

But I am firmly on board the Wentz in the late first round, early second ship.

Never know. I've seen all of them mocked anywhere from 3-14..

If you want Hargreaves or Smith, and you have a Top 5 pick and want to trade back to say 12............... you would be running a big risk that both will be long gone. Maybe if you got lucky one might be there but if you want either of those guys, you have to take them with your Top 5 pick or fall back to like 7th or 8th to guarantee you get one of them (and even then, you might not get either).

Dallas right now picks 7th

Round 1
1. Titans Laremy Tunsil T Ole Miss
2. Chargers Miles Jack LB UCLA
3. Browns Joey Bosa OLB Ohio State
4. Ravens Jalen Ramsey S Florida State
5. Lions Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida
6. Niners Paxton Lynch QB Memphis
7. Dallas Trades with STL Dallas gets RD1 RD3 RD5 picks
7. Rams Jared Goff QB Cal
8. Jaguars Robert Nkemdiche DT Ole Miss
9. Saints Jaylen Smith LB ND
10. Bears Ronnie Staley T ND
11. Cowboys Ezekiel Elliot RB Ohio State
Dallas misses a RB who can create and keep a defense honest. Something they dont have now since they lost Murray. Elliot gives them that guy who can carry the load when the passing game has stalled. We saw last yr when Dallas needed a kick start they gave the ball to Murray and let the big men in front lead the way. Elliot allows Dallas to get that hammer back.

Round 2
Jeremy Cash S Duke
Guy is going to climb and I think if they want him they're probably going to have to take him here. He can play all over the field. And make plays where ever they put him. He loves to hit and blitz too. Would give the Cowboys that S combo that marinelli wants.Jones being the deep safety and Cash being the one to play the run but can go back and play that 2 deep zone.

Round 3
Desmond King CB Iowa
Makes plays on the ball. Not tall but puts himself in position to just make plays.

Round 3(STL)
Adolph Washington DT Ohio State
Certainly he's going to drop some after his arrest. But if the team interviews him and he checks out, Dallas has shown they will take a chance(Gregory). Would be a steal at this point.

Round 4
Braxton Miller WR Ohio State
Guy who you can just put all over the field and he'll make a play. Type of player Jerry usually drools over.

Round 5
Kevin Hogan QB Stanford
Smart QB who has need to develop, but he'd have time behind Romo.

Round 5(STL)
Taveze Calhoun CB Miss State
Physical CB who would make a nice dime CB. aggressive and actually likes to tackle.Could develop into a starter.

Love this Mock Draft !

You think King drops all the way to third?

Probably not. I thought he would at first, but he just won the Thorpe award.

Hes a solid tackler and gets turnovers. He'll probably be a mid 2nd rounder at this point. Might even creep into the first if he has a good combine maybe.

I'm good with your draft.....however, I would take FS Darian Thompson over Cash. Thompson has about 18 ints for his career. I would also take SS Byard over Calhoun. Byard is tied with Thompson in the int. dept. Having two ballhawking safeties would be a football fantasia. BTW, CBSSports.com has King as a 1-2 round prospect. If we get him in the 3rd, it is an absolute steal. Hargreaves is probably the best cover corner in the draft, but I feel that King is the best all around CB in the draft.

I think Byron Jones is going to be Dallas' FS. Only reason he's been playing CB is because Claiborne has been hurt. Before that he was starting at FS

Thompson and Byard are both ballhawks, having tons of INTs during their careers. King has several ints as well, and is a very good tackler. A small school talent that I am intrigued with is Harlan Miller of SE Lousiana. He too has double digit ints for his career, as well as very good size, athleticism, and coverage skills. He has a mid-round grade. Finally, Brian Poole of Florida is one heckuva late round prospect. He is good in coverage, and while he doesn't get man ints, he does force fumbles at a good rate.

I know we won't, but if we did decide to go DB heavy in this draft........getting all the above...

CB - King, Scandrick, Miller, Poole
S - Jones, Thompson, Byard, Church, Wilcox

If Tunsil goes 1 (could happen) SD will draft Staley 2 as best available OL. Their line is a train wreck and you cant pass up franchise LTs. If Browns keep their HC, they will draft Lynch. Petine cant stand JFB,

history does support this
