After week one I ripped into the team a bit but I thought we played fabulous this week. The offense was good and as was the defense; however, we will only get to 10-6 or 11-5 with that performance and no Superbowl.

If we want to win a Superbowl we can not commit all of those false start penalties that have plagued us for years. How many plays did that kill on Friday? Im guessing at least three and it eliminated points from one nice drive. I know some will say its only preseason and they need to work the kinks out and I would be fine with that if it wasn't the same three players that have killed this team for the past three seasons. That drive where we drove up to the 25 yard line and were about to go for it on 4th and inches and Columbo false started and we then miss the field goal, next thing you know after we dominated the entire half, Tennessee was about to take the lead and did. I know I seem hard on these guys but this is what we need to clean up if we want to win the Superbowl. The Giant playoff game reminded me of Fridays game. We moved the ball but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. I like Wade Phillps and I hope he succeeds but this is now on him to fix. Its 3 years in the making.

ps, I didnt like all of the unsportsmanlike penalties either but that I attribute to young kids in the preseason but not the same oline problem we had for years. Opinions???????????

I agree for the most part, but Wade got one of the Unsportsmanlike's. Many have been wanting him to be more forceful, can't have it both ways.

the unsportsmanlike on Watkins was a joke... He is a 4th year guy, if he doesnt know the rules he needs to go!

The Flags and the Drops are drive killers!

I think we got lucky with the penalties, because I saw Flozell jump offsides right before the snap 3-4 times without it being called.

oh haha just made a thread about this!

Thankfully it is only preseason. I can't remember much about last preseason's performances, but I don't recall a lot of careless penalties that stalled drives. Though when the season arrived, the stupid penalties began, especially in the second half.

Hopefully they are working on it and are getting it out of the way now in live action (preseason).

How does one even false start? As a QB it always drove me nuts."On two......ok everybody, on TWOOOOO"
*False Start*

Ex lineman, help me...

I think we need to eliminate our cadence. You notice Romo always comes to the line and goes kill, kill etc etc and those lineman are sitting there waiting. If we went to quick counts I think that would help with the false starts. The only negative is the defensive lineman will get a better jump.

I've said it a few times on here recently... penalties concern me more than any other thing the team can control.

We had the most penalties in the NFL last year. And #2 in penalty yardage.

No way we have a shot at the Super Bowl if we're anywhere close to that sloppy again. It absolutely must be cleaned up.

Penalties are a REAL problem for this team (along with ST).

Titans got lucky alot too, they had 3 or 4 plays where their DB's could have easily been called for holding, illegal contact or PI and it was ignored. One happened on a Bennett catch too.

Unfortunately not every team can be the Stealers ot Cheatriots, and have just about everything they do ignored by the refs.

The refs aren't incompetent. If he was really going off too early the refs would've called it during the supposed 3-4 times. The better answer is that he's getting off quicker than the rest of the line.

Either you're right about the Pats or they're just an incredibly disciplined team... because they were EASILY the least penalized team in the NFL last year, with just 57 penalties. Dallas had more than double, with 119.

The next lowest after New England was a tie between Buffalo and Atlanta... each had 71.

Pittsburgh was tied for 12th most, with 95.

Speaking of false starts. When the ref called "False start, everyone except the center" Shouldn't that be 50 yards penalties? I mean, there are 11 guys on the field and if 10 of the 11 guys jumped, 5 yards x 10 penalties = 50 yards in penalties! :laugh2:

I thought the 1st unit did a good job of not getting many flags. 2nd half of the game yes we got plenty of them as did Tenn as do most teams in pre-season games with so many people rotating in and out of the game. I do agree though this team must do a better job than they have in recent years.
