As some of you know, I didn't particularly like this draft and for many reasons, I'll try to be brief.

I hope we don't ever host a draft again in Dallas or Arlington (whatever) For the commissioner to come out with 3 former Cowboy greats to shield himself from the boos only to call out the fans for booing our own Cowboys. Ridiculous!!

Then to have a stupid Eagle Kicker clowning us like that really pissed me off, especially seeing that was one of the highest trending tweets in the world.

So the 1st round kicks off, I immediately get bombed by calls from a ton of relatives that I have from NY, telling me Saquon....Say Gone yadda yadda ...personally, I was hoping the Giants took a QB there, I really didn't want them getting Barkley and to compound that they got Will Hernandez with their next pick UGHH.

So as the 1st round picks are clicking off, we are suddenly 2-3 picks away from Derwin James, Edmunds, Ridley, Moore, and Rashan Evans, in the back of my mind I kept saying no way we are taking Vander Esch now...but Nooooo....Edmunds and James go off boom boom, and then we're on the clock and we have Drew and Irvin up there parading around for a WR and we go LVE ughh.

As for the picks themselves well here is my assessment of it.

Overall Grade C-

1. Leighton Vander Esch - D - Ever go into drafting hoping we don't draft a particular player and boom he's your first pick. I hope I'm wrong about Barbie 2.0, I would've like Evans better.

2. Connor Williams - B+ Williams can do the job at LG, but you don't have to invest such a high resource at LG people...example Leary was an UDFA.

3. Michael Gallup - C+ We passed on a lot of other better WR's in this draft, Gallup isn't the best or worst prospect, at best he is a WR2.

4. Dorance Armstrong - D Never heard of him, don't care for the player either, terrible pick in the 4th

4. Dalton Schultz - C+ at best he is Hanna, I doubt he is the future TE going forward

5. Mike White - C+ Luke Falk was sitting right there and we took White instead, Don't know the player that well. I really don't mind the pick as I'm not very high on Rush, I still feel a veteran QB should be signed before the season starts.

6. Tavon Austin - B if we can use him like the Skins use Thompson and use him on special teams I think its a good fit for us.
6. Chris Covington - D I really don't know what to say, we passed on better LB's, hopefully, a decent special teamer?
6. Cedrick Wilson - C headed to the PS, maybe sticks as a returner

7. Bo Scarborough - A Best player we got in this whole draft, would be great if he used similar to how the Pats and Eagles use Blount, he should help out on short yardage situations and get some goal line work so as we dont have to get Zeke killed all game long.

By comparing LVE to Bobby Carpenter, you're essentially admitting that the full extent of your linebacker analytical skills consist of evaluating their skin color.

They are completely different types of players who played completely different positions in completely different schemes in college. LVE is two inches taller and 10 pounds heavier coming out of college than Carpenter. Carpenter had 50 tackles his senior year, LVE had 140. Carpenter's run stop % was 11%, LVE's was 19% (which is elite).

Their similarity begins and ends at "white linebacker".

Now go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

yea yea I heard all this all weekend...I really hope your right and I will be glad to eat those words.

Don't you think if you grade a player a D you should at least try to find out who he is first?

They believe he was forced to put on weight and play out of position because of injuries and his 2016 tape was lights out. He has a high motor and quick burst.

Taking an edge rusher with good upside in the 4th round is not worthy of a D grade imo.

After reading your fanalysis I like the draft even more. Basically, if you don't know anything about the guy he's a bum. But you've heard of the guy from Alabama, so our 7th rounder is the best pick. :muttley:

If LVE flops, he STILL won't be Barbie 2.0. He'll be a completely different failure. Bobby Carpenter was a 4-3 cover 2 man SAM linebacker in college who almost exclusively rushed the passer on passing downs. LVE is a true Tampa 2 drop MIKE who excels in the middle and deep zone.

Their skillset is as different as Tyreek Hill and Alshon Jeffrey.

What makes you think I didn't read up on him after we selected him?

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Head nod of approval because of ur honesty, not ur take although I do agree with u about Barbie Carpenter 2. Let me add this in case u not hipp. BC2 & LVE numbers in measurables are very similar to each other. It's just not a comparison because of the obvious. It really is a side by side comparison. The only difference is Barbie actually played more seasons & had more on tape to evaluate. Look it up if ur thinking this is some type of bit I'm doing. Put it like this, it's scary how identical their numbers are to each other.

The OP needs to take life a little less seriously. The draft is a big production - no matter what city hosts great players from the host team will be trotted out. Showing off the great players is just part of it. Akers was part of the show too - some good natured jabbing. Nothing to take seriously.

Only Armstrong and Covington?

The only picks you liked were Williams and Scarbrough - Texas and Alabama (big surprise) - so I can remind you about all of the rest. But since I won't remember this thread next week you don't have to concern yourself with that happening.
