This is your opinion and I can't fault that .As to my opinion there will be a couple of keepers at the low end of the draft.
Melton might come through the other two should be better then the FA Selvie type as far as production.
Record might be about the same but they play better later as like last season.
I like Street's attitude. But a WR assimilating so quickly, and one without blinding speed will be a stretch for me. I am hoping he makes the team, but that is pet cat stuff and not based on much.
Lawrence is feast or famine. He has a great first couple of steps, but he is light and doesn't play the run well. My fear is he will be leaned on by tackles and worn out. So first year, I expect enough for him to show flashes, but be inconsistent. I imagine there will be a call out by the last quarter of the schedule that he may be a bust. Just a feeling. He will be someone who ages like wine if he can play at this level. Hitchens falls under the same umbrella for me. Has a place, but will take a bit to work his way into it.
Zach Martin is the bright spot, which translates to the line being better. Yet there is a big but tossed in. One of the problems with this offense is the receivers across from Dez. They cannot cause enough fear in the defense which gives Dez anything but over/under coverage. Dez is great, but not at the Megatron level that he is open no matter what.
TWill needs to have an outstanding second season. That and the line offering protection for Romo, along with an offense that understands the run game is not out of fashion and can make this team dangerous. Show me that and not some guy throwing 45 times a game. That is what will win with this team.
Spencer is a wasted effort. I think he is done. Selvie gave you what he had last year. He will not get any better. Stay the same? Maybe. Crawford could be the piece that shines the most. Along with Melton you might get a little push.
Carter needs to make the transition this year. Lee needs to stay healthy. Mo needs to show something. I personally don't believe he's a bust, but I am an old fat guy on the internet.
Dallas still does not have a free safety that can play this game. Still. Years of trying and they keep tossing strong safeties at that job that cannot get it done.
So all in all, I see this defense as more of the same from last year. With the schedule - which is tough in the first six games - they will lose to 9ers, Seattle and NO, and then possibly lose to one of the others - Titans, Rams, Texans - and I think the Rams have a decent enough defense to push Dallas early in the season and the offense has enough snot to beat the Dallas defense. At this time.
So coming out of the first six games 2-4 and then the last six games that I see not one win, this season will be decided in the middle four. And I have penciled in two losses there to the Commanders and Cardinals. But I expect one surprise win, Giants week 12 perhaps, so 5-11 is what I see here and now.
Once they on the pads and start hitting that might change.
But Monkey, I am in the show me stage of my fanship. I have watched this team, like we all have, and want to see something before I jump out and start cheer leading.
