Shotty both HC and OC-PC,
Overall, I think he did a great job and proved many of his critics wrong.
People said he wouldn’t be ready for the moment, but if you look at the way they played in the first half, it became a competitive game, showing he was prepared.
The game plan was strong, and the play calls and decisions were solid. Yes, they lost, but he wasn’t even expected to go toe-to-toe with that Eagles staff and team, and yet they did.
Even though it’s a loss, I’d give him a B+.
IMO, this bodes well for the rest of the season—this was his litmus test.
This was a Cowboys team that faced a challenge, and I think they rose to it.
They’ll build on this and surpass all the predictions of seven or fewer wins.
Team:
The offense was excellent in the first half. They ran the ball effectively, scored a couple of rushing touchdowns, and looked balanced. If not for the second-half drops from CeeDee Lamb, the outcome and numbers might have been different.
The defense struggled in the first half against Hurts, but after the lightning delay, they seemed to catch their breath and make adjustments. They played an excellent second half, holding the Eagles to just 3 points.
Did you know Saquon Barkley managed only 60 yards at 3.3 yards per carry? Great work by the new defensive line and linebackers!
It looked rough because Jalen Hurts was running wild in the first half, but he was essentially their entire run game. Everyone else struggled, meaning our front seven, while it didn’t always seem like it, was doing its job.
I remember all the live-zone debates during the game, and I’m telling you, everyone who said we needed linebackers or that the defensive ends weren’t playing well—you were wrong.
So there's a lot of good things that came from this game and I know there's no moral victories, But we were supposed to get blown out, remember we were not supposed to be able to play with the Eagles, this was supposed to be our litmus test, and when you look at it, they passed the test, other than the fumble by Sanders and that big drop by Lamb this team basically played even with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, outdoors and a little bit of wind and precipitation..
So, I'm going to take something very positive from this and saying they can build on this moving forward they can get better week to week.
This is not the team people are saying is going to only win 7 games, I know it's only one game but it is the game, you're stacking up against the Super Bowl champions on the road, and if you look at the stats that are almost dead even the game stats for both teams, you know when you look at total yards, passing yards, rushing yards, rushing averages; it's crazy they pretty much were dead even, and that's why those mistakes are what cost you the game..
However, when you look back on it this was one very competitive game in the Dallas Cowboys are being criticized right here do I need to bring up the records that we are predicting here the doom and gloom.
this does not look like a seven-win team to me.
Yes, I realize it's a loss,
but typically, Dallas and Philadelphia, when they're healthy, they usually split and it's the home team usually wins,
This is the way the Cowboys Eagles almost always play each other when they're healthy they are very well matched it's always a very competitive game unless teams are missing a lot of players Of course those games the better team wins that day because the other team is usually coming in shorthanded but when both teams are healthy this is what we usually see...
I'm happy this new coaching staff and a lot of these new players by the end of the game all seemed very solid, i'm giving the team and coaches a B+
On to the next game....
