Jerry has been able to get away with being a below average GM because of two things:

Tony Romo
Dakota Prescott

He was gifted 2 decent QB's for basically the cost of a late 4th round draft pick.

This has covered over a lot of Jerry's horrendous GM decisions.

Now that Dak's play has fallen down to his limited ability, the team is gonna stink bad.

I am talking 5 and 11 Campo bad.

Jerry can smooth talk over a lot of stuff, but the results of his inabilities are going to show up

on the field where there will be no way he can spin it.

Maybe when we become a perennial loser on the field and are no longer " relevant"

He will change his ways.

Jerry is a proud man and if the product on the field falls below .500 and the National Media

does not care about the Boys anymore, hopefully he will make some meaningful positive changes.

I mean he has shown in the past that he is at least capable of some level of capitulation. I'm referring to the hiring of Parcells. Maybe it could happen again? (not Parcells, I mean Jerry making a change)

Why is it so hard for you football challenged fans to understand football and QB's?

I hope you are right.

My experience with hardheaded old men is that they dig their heals in and only get worse as they age.
I hear ya, and this might end up coming down on Stephen...
Don't know if he would have the stomach for it.
Stephen had said several years ago he would be open to hiring a GM once he's in charge.
That would be the fall guy.
Also I don't think Stephen has the need to be the center of attention.
He also does not strike me as one who has to get the credit.

You might be right, we have a penny pincher behind him.

Well here is the dynamic I hope Stephen is smart enough to realize :

Losing product on the filed means less revenue.
Winning product on the field means more revenue

Hopefully he will spend enough to get filthy rich and we can have a more solid well run team that can have a better chance of post season success.

Win/Win

That was only to get people on board with the new stadium. That wasn't him changing or capitulating to the betterment of the team. That was purely about the stadium and moneymaking

It's all about the Oline and Dline. Build the trenches and things become easier all over.

What do you think that will change? The only thing that changes is who drafts the players and who manages the salary cap. But solely building through the draft will not change if that's what the owner wants.

Jerry is not the GM....on paper, maybe...but he not.....if he is, he deserves credit for drafting good players and having a good roster.....Jerry's HC decisions have been the issue

If what they are doing is not producing a winner on the field perhaps a change in philosophy will ?
Like using free agency?
Maybe a real HC or real GM would be given the keys to the team like Parcell's was?
As long as we are relevant status quo is maintained.
Once consistent losing and loss of revenue starts maybe some meaningful change ?

Hey Credit where credit is due.
Jerry hired Will McClay and got out of his way and we have had stellar drafts.
I applaud Jerry for that.
But hiring weak HC's, keeping them way to long , terrible trades trades for Wide Receivers, not taking advantage of free agency, that all falls on Jerry.
If you want the credit you gotta take the heat too.

Right. But what are we talking about here, a change in GM or a change in philosophy? Stephen can change his philosophy, or standard operating procedure anytime he wants. Without hiring a GM. Because if the philosophy doesn't change, he'll just not allow a new GM to pick up high priced free agents.
