Lots of good questions.
I think # 2 is very important.
We get too much into position flex.
We almost ruined Byron Jones doing this.
My concern is they are throwing Tyler off the deep end and saying sink or swim.
This is not the best way to break a raw rookie into the NFL.
That is the way I like to start a Rookie QB like they did with Troy sink or swim

1. What can we expect from Tank? There really hasn't been a ton of talk about him either way. I personally like the player, and I think he does so many things that go unnoticed. But can he return to double digit sack form?

2. Why do we throw too much at rookies? Early in the preseason one of the head honchos said they think they threw too much at Tyler Smith. Now, Stephen said they have thrown too much at Tolbert. Why would you do this? Why wouldn't you give them one job to get comfortable with and then look to expand that as they get a little experience and confidence? We did the same thing with Parsons, fortunately he was able to handle it, but I think with 95% of all rookies you need to bring them in, have them focus on one spot and then increase their responsibilities as they show they can handle it.

3. Can this group of no name receivers hold things down until Gallup gets back? What about Washington? His timetable was 6-10 weeks and we are basically coming into week 6 now. Will we get any kind of spark out of him?

4. Will the interior DT be a strength? We have thrown a lot of draft capital into the spot. Hill, Odiggy, Gallimore, Bohanna, Ridgeway. It is time for them to step up.

5. Do we have a ton of pass rushing depth? Outside of Parsons, who has shown he can get after it, we have a lot of guys that have shown they can get to the QB for 6-8 sacks a year. Our 1985 team set the team record with 62 sacks. We had 41 last year. Could we see a big jump in total sacks this year?

6. Can Dak raise the level of those around him? It has been the buzzword from the front office lately when we didn't add any veterans into the mix at WR and OT before finally signing Peters. Can Dak make the OL look better than it is? Can he elevate a bunch of no name WR's?

7. Is Maher really gonna be the Kicker all year? I think one thing that might help him is that he has to realize that you don't have to kick every FG like it is a 60 yarder. With his leg, just an average swing will get the ball 50 yards. Slowing things down a bit and a little less effort might increase the accuracy on those must have kicks inside the 45.

8. Can the OL be average at least? We only have one position locked down right now and that is RG. Everything else is a question mark. Seems to be too much to ask for 4 guys to be better than they have ever been .
I’ll go on a limb on the 1st one. According to depth charts Armstrong has consistently been listed as the other starter this off-season. He has primarily been the backup to Lawrence at the 5 technique the last couple of years. Lawrence put up 14 and 10 sacks playing the 7/9 technique from the left side with Crawford playing the 5T. Lawrence knowing he was going to get less sacks and without complaint moved to the 5t because… well Griffen and Gregory weren’t exactly suited. As part of agreeing to a contract restructure and based of his comments of wanting to lead the team in sacks again this off-season I’m thinking he may be back to playing the 7/9t… so yeah, barring injury I’m looking for 8 to 10 sacks from him!

1) What can we expect from Tank? This dude played some selfish football in his contract years. He would take hard inside cuts without telling the DT what he was about to do. That's why his sack numbers went up those two years. So, if you want him to return to those double digit years, put Parsons at DT so he can loop around Tank on those hard inside cuts. But, this has to be planned, of course.

2) Why do we throw too much at rookies? We don't normally. But these numbnuts were thinking Tolbert could be our number two, until Gallup came back. So, they threw the kitchen sink at him, hoping he can handle it.

3) Can the receivers hold it down?
Gallup should be back in week three. But, being back and returning to forum, are two different things. Brown has been in our system for awhile now, so he could very easily hold down the number two spot. Our plans come in behind that, number three and number four.

4) Will our DT's be a strength?
I'd say yes, but only if Gallimore and Bohanna start and play the early downs. Quinn will mix things up on third down and late in the games, as usual. But we need to have those big run stuffers in there early on.

5) Do we have pass rush dept?
That's an easy one, of course we do. Tank and Armstrong are the alleged starters. After those guys you have Osa and Golston who can play inside and out. Then we have Basham and Fowler who are basically pass rush specialist. And when you add in Parsons and Barr... we are stacked. That's eight guys without me including our talented rookie, Sam Williams.

6) Can Dak elevate those around him?
This question is mainly about the receivers. Dak cannot elevate the offensive line nor the running backs. As far as a QB elevating those around him, that's a myth. QB's and WR's have natural connections quite often. If a quarterback and wide receivers' natural connection is seriously off, then there's not much they can really do. Romo to Roy Williams was a disaster, but Romo to Laurent Robinson was great. I've always felt Dak had that natural connection with Brown, Wilson and Lamb. But elevating players is not the QB's job. That's on the OC, to put guys in the right spots at the right times.

7) Is Maher it for the year?
Hopefully he is. But if he's not hitting on easy kicks, then goodbye.

8) Can our offensive line be average?
I have a feeling Peters is taking someone's spot. And more than likely it's going to be McGovern's. Tyler might start off slow, but by mid-season he'll be ready. So with Smith, Peters, Badiasz, Martin and Steele they should be solid. Hopefully Farniok takes Badiasz's job sometime during the season.

Number 8. hooooah and with a possible return for Smith at the right time in December to January time period.

Yeah but we are not talking about any ol DB, We're talking about TREVON!!!!!!

But on a serious note I have questions

1. What if Dak goes from # 9 to say #5 ?
2. What if Zeke is relatively injury free and Rushes for 1400 yds and 14 TDs ?
3. What if Cee Dee stays on his trajectory and becomes the latest addition of the 88 club ?
4. What if Fowler and Williams replace Randy's production?
5. Micah, Barr and Van Der Esch what will they do ?
6. What about Oddigy, Sir Neville and the boys ?

People are acting as if Dallas Has Fallen off. I think they are better through subtraction. We shall see now won't we

Let's Go !!!!!!!
What if I start pooping gold nuggets?

Questions? Which bourbon will I drink, will there be a game Day menu, how many points will the Cowboys win by:laugh:

It's early in the season and no one really knows which questions will be answered successfully. As always I will be cheering hard, and hoping for the best.

Go Cowboys :flagwave:
I think @Ranching has been broken.
Right before he got to 100,000 Likes.

I agree about D. Law....let's have him healthy for one year please! Of course, Jerry will resign him to a 10 year extension.

Counting on rookies is one thing. Counting on rookies to play multiple roles is another altogether.

Hell, if Fowler is similar to Quinn, just let him pass rush constantly...he really should never be on the field if it isn't a clear passing down.

Seems like for the most part we agree on most of this stuff. You seem a bit more confident than I do....I'd love for everything to go right, but you know that rarely happens. Just need the right number of hits to give us a chance. I really think there are still very few teams that can out talent us from 1-53.
Game 1 might be the biggest challenge this year.

The defense needs to carry the team for a couple of games until Tyler gets settled at LT or Peters is ready to start with Tyler moving to LG.

Gallup likely back for game 3 or 4.

I think the depth is much better than 2021.
