1) What can we expect from Tank? This dude played some selfish football in his contract years. He would take hard inside cuts without telling the DT what he was about to do. That's why his sack numbers went up those two years. So, if you want him to return to those double digit years, put Parsons at DT so he can loop around Tank on those hard inside cuts. But, this has to be planned, of course.
2) Why do we throw too much at rookies? We don't normally. But these numbnuts were thinking Tolbert could be our number two, until Gallup came back. So, they threw the kitchen sink at him, hoping he can handle it.
3) Can the receivers hold it down?
Gallup should be back in week three. But, being back and returning to forum, are two different things. Brown has been in our system for awhile now, so he could very easily hold down the number two spot. Our plans come in behind that, number three and number four.
4) Will our DT's be a strength?
I'd say yes, but only if Gallimore and Bohanna start and play the early downs. Quinn will mix things up on third down and late in the games, as usual. But we need to have those big run stuffers in there early on.
5) Do we have pass rush dept?
That's an easy one, of course we do. Tank and Armstrong are the alleged starters. After those guys you have Osa and Golston who can play inside and out. Then we have Basham and Fowler who are basically pass rush specialist. And when you add in Parsons and Barr... we are stacked. That's eight guys without me including our talented rookie, Sam Williams.
6) Can Dak elevate those around him?
This question is mainly about the receivers. Dak cannot elevate the offensive line nor the running backs. As far as a QB elevating those around him, that's a myth. QB's and WR's have natural connections quite often. If a quarterback and wide receivers' natural connection is seriously off, then there's not much they can really do. Romo to Roy Williams was a disaster, but Romo to Laurent Robinson was great. I've always felt Dak had that natural connection with Brown, Wilson and Lamb. But elevating players is not the QB's job. That's on the OC, to put guys in the right spots at the right times.
7) Is Maher it for the year?
Hopefully he is. But if he's not hitting on easy kicks, then goodbye.
8) Can our offensive line be average?
I have a feeling Peters is taking someone's spot. And more than likely it's going to be McGovern's. Tyler might start off slow, but by mid-season he'll be ready. So with Smith, Peters, Badiasz, Martin and Steele they should be solid. Hopefully Farniok takes Badiasz's job sometime during the season.
