Again, let’s look at where the real problem is with the Dallas Cowboys. Starts way back again, ever since 1994, when Jerry Jones said any 500 coach can run this team, and that Jerry Jones himself could coach the heck out of this team and do a blank blank job. Right there, says the problem. Now, let’s fast forward to 2009 season, with the NFL draft. The Dallas Cowboys had 2 draft picks and more via trades, we had a chance to get Unger Center, but Jerry didn’t pull the trigger because he wasn’t a flashy player by trading up. You had more than enough picks to trade up to get Unger. Then, you had 2 fifth round picks, (both of these players didn’t make the roster later) and extra 6th and 7th pick. Again the Cowboys could have gotten Johnny Knox, an elite punt/kickoff/wr with elite speed, but we didn’t pull the trigger. That 2009 draft was Jerry Jones draft and Stephen Jones draft. Cost us 2 elite players in the NFL now. Now, let’s look at the Cowboys this year.
All preseason long in practices, the Cowboys worked mostly in shorts, with at least one day in pads. Some of you said, big deal doesn’t matter. So, I waited patiently, because you said we can turn the switch on at any time. Then, we didn’t play the veterans like other teams did like the Texans, Packers, Colts and Eagles. Again, some of you, (wont mention names but you know who you are) with turning the switch on at any time. Now, are you worried yet, even wade admitted that the Cowboys are at a crossroads.
Then, in Commanders game, are so called head coach is in lala land when he is on headphones talking to defensive staff, while our offense is on the field. On the 11 second goof up and the 4 second goof up, even using the called time out from the sideline when it looked like Barber would run for lots of yardage. You all know that. There are way to many times when wade looks confuses and lost, are just not into what is actually happening on the field. We heard from Jerry Jones saying that wade can interject any time more running or whatever. Yet, again, we pass 2 to 1 ratio. You can’t win in the NFL passing 50 or more times a game. Yet, at halftime, did we play better by running the ball NO! Where is the accountability on this team from the coaching staff. Players are not performing. But when you have to fix problems that you as head coach didn’t fix in training camp, because your camps are camp cupcake or marshmallow, then your setting yourself up for failure. Again, and again we heard bryan broaddus and other media writers say that in practice when in pads, they look great, but in shorts, their sloppy. The last 2 games folks, the cowboys have looked sloppy, players and coaches.
How can you explain after the Dez Bryant return for TD, and we pooch the ball on kickoff. Dumb! Why, one main reason again goes to Jerry Jones, having fans pay for touring the stadium while they watched practice. Anyone realizes that you cant run stuff you want to on that day, when fans are there or even NFL scouts because your owner is silly enough to charge for that and allow fans to view practice. That took one day’s worth of practice away from the Cowboys. Dumb!
Now, lets look at who calls the final 53 man roster and say so. Its not wade or Jason, true they have some input on who plays and stays on team, but even Jerry Jones himself has said, I have the final say on the 53 man roster and who plays during the game. We had a chance to get the big bruising fullback Owen Schmidt, but no, we stick with Deon Anderson, who ever year is banged up, cant block when hurt and costs us a game or two. I am not taking anything away from Gronkwski, he will be a good player in time, but we needed a big bruising fullback now, Schmidt was that player, he had 2 catches 21 yards and some big blocks in that game eagles won yesterday i believe. Now, lets look at who is in player control of getting players off of the street for the team. Who do you think it is? Right, best I remember its wade’s son and one of Jason garrett’s other brother. Now, you all see how against teams we haven’t played before we suffer because were not familiar with their style. That goes back to coaching and getting the players ready with good game plan. Who is responsible for that? Jerry Jones! Why? Wade asked for an experienced offensive consultant like a Dan Reeves and he was all set to take the job, but Jerry Jones had words with Dan. Rest you know. Now, who is in the press box, mainly experienced enough as a genius offensive mind. No one really, do you know who is up in that press box that I am aware of? John Garrett and Wade’s son, not experienced coaches that have called plays and know dire situations. Again, this goes back to coaching and Jerry Jones.
Even after the game, wade says there is no excuse for the blown coverage that we didn’t commit once, or twice but at least 3 times. Wade said that was his mistake for not getting the players ready for that situation. Again, when your having to fix other problems when you should have done them in training camp and preseason games, the coaching as well as Jerry Jones is to blame for this laid back attitude.
Then, you have a player that this is the 2nd game where he has looked upfield (after he received his big money in Miles Austin) and dropped the ball. Too many players on this team are so concerned on making the big play, they aren’t concentrating and focusing in the game. You play focused, with energy, intensity, heart and desire. Where was the fire from some of the players. Do some of you know that before Jason Witten got hurt he was on the sidelines with offensive linemen chewing them out, and cussing at them? Where is the head coach that is suppose to be laying it heavy on the players for messing up. Oh year, good ole time Wade that wants to be like the father for the players with family atmosphere, and be the good coach for the players isn’t doing his job. Sometimes a coach has to carry a big stick and be heard. Get mad at yourself for making mistakes as well as the players and for Jerry Jones doing some of his antics. This has got to stop.
Two ways to do this, especially after Jason Witten exploded on the sidelines. The players must have a closed meeting without the coaches, because evidently the coaches aren’t going to blow up at the players and let them have it verbally. Players have to hash out their anger, frustration at players for not carrying their weight like the cowboys did in 1971 during the midseason. Or like in 1978, when Jackie Smith called a closed meeting and had only players, be accountable, to each other and make players toe the line.
The other way is to send a message to the team by someone that keeps messing up on the team and costing them momentum. Whether that is only having kicker Beuhler only kick kickoffs and sign a kicker or letting a player like Deon Anderson go, who keeps getting injured in critical games and isn’t helping. I don’t know who the player is, but you can’t sit pat, and not do nothing. Some kind of message has to be sent to this team, starting with telling Jerry Jones no more fans watching practice, with some bears fans taking notes on practice. Sure, your not as a team going to do anything worthwhile in practice that day, but your taking a day away from practice that you need to work on things, like the pooch kick Beuhler did. Remember, we did one pooch kick that wade said didn’t go far enough, and then we tried onside kick, that was very similar to a pooch kick. How did that work? Get mad, get some stuff out to media writers to make coaching staff accountable, as well as the players and Jerry Jones. A few days ago, before we played Houston articles were written on who really is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Total access with the roundtable when Michael Irvin was with the other guys around the table, were trying to get Irvin to see that, Jerry Jones does interfere and their really is no head coach, that carries a big stick. That when wade wanted an offensive consultant that is experienced and knows better than throw 50 times a game, but Jerry Jones said NO! Or when Jason Garrett wants something, he goes to Jerry Jones and gets what he wants. While Wade who is suppose to be the head coach, can’t do anything because Jason Garrett is getting what he wants over wade.
Remember now, Jerry Jones says he wants it this way, an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator basically running the team, while Jerry Jones is really the head coach, making all the final decisions. Jerry has done it his way ever since 1994 and how has that worked out? Not well, because what Jerry Jones doesn’t realize is reason why Cowboys won in 1995 is because the team was still had leaders on the team that knew how to win, and what it takes. While Switzer let the assistant coaches run the show and Switzer stood out of the way. That must be pointed out to Jerry Jones very firmly, Jerry wanted it this way, let him answer for this mess, not the players, or coaches, but Jerry Jones. Sure players and coaches are to blame as I mentioned above, but it all starts with owner Jerry Jones. You must attack Jerry Jones through the media, and the things he does and allows the laid back attitude on this team.
