My Response to ESPN posts second-worst 'Monday Night Football' season

I think NBC gets first say on the game they want for SNF within some parameters. They paid a premium for this. I get the impression that ESPN/ABC paid the least and get the leftover games that the other networks don't want.

If I'm the ESPN CEO, you know what I would have done about a decade ago?

I'd have created my own 'Netflix' for live/recorded sports events. For around $10 a month, all ESPN channels plus a few others sold directly to consumers, just like Netflix is.

Instead, ESPN decided to remain joined to the hip with cable providers, and they were bleeding subscribers as a result.
