My son opening a personalized autographed football from Roger Staubach

I want to share a personal feel good story about my son and a gift from Roger Staubach to him...

My son is 6 years old and has a brain tumor located in his Thalamus, which is in the center of the brain. We recently started Chemo Therapy to get after it, so far he has been receptive and things are going well. I'm not sharing this because I want people to know about the tumor...I want each of you to know that we have some incredible idols out there that still reach us in a very personal and touching nature.

Long story short...we have a good friend of ours that is engaged with Roger through a working relationship. This friend shared with Roger that he knows of a boy that has a tumor and is a HUGE Cowboys fan...and by the age of 5 has watched some of Rogers Super bowl DVD's and new who he was because of those games.

Well Roger signed a personal football for Luke and I video taped him opening it on his birthday...I recently put it out there on youtube to share with family, but I also wanted to share here as many of us still admire Roger Staubach. This was an awesome thing he did for Luke and I can't thank him enough!

I've also included his personal web-site we use to update friends and family...a ways down in the guest book he got a note from Luke Staley (BYU Running back) the football player too. My sons name is also Luke Staley...so they have the same name. Another example of a football player we look up too and have cheered for...taking time to help someone they don't even know out.

In this crazy world we still have Idols we can look up too!

Please let Luke know that he will be in my prayers for as long as you need me to do it.

I also thought it was really cool that the other Luke Staley heard about your Luke and did something too. I remember when he was playing at BYU and always liked him. Good to know there are still good guys around.

It was so funny when he asked " is he still alive"...from the mouth of babes. I think he's used to seeing games in HD, so when watching the older DVD's...they look so old.

Thanks for your prayers. He will be on Chemo for over a year. It is a slow growing tumor (Called a Glioma) that is growing together with good brain tissue, which means we can not oporate on it. The slower the growth the longer the duration of the Chemo, but at lower doses. So far he still has most of his hair which is good, but we will see as the weeks go on how that goes.

Like I said...this is an awesome thing Roger did and wanted to share with everyone that we still have real STARS our there.
