I have been reading all of the Henson/Romo threads for a while now and I would like to give my two cents on the matter. First of all, I just want what is best for the Cowboys, just like everyone else here. That being said, I favor Henson in the competition. The reasons being, we gave up a third rounder for him, he has way more upside, can make all of the throws and most importantly to me at least, he has done everything he can to get better. Watching the Cardinal game, what stuck out to me was that his decision making was very much improved and he threw the ball away when there was nothing there.
In regards to Romo, I think he is a decent QB, but what really sticks in my craw is reading these articles in the off season about him trying to make the golf tour. I think if you want to successful in the league, you need to concentrate on your main job (which is being a pro QB, not golfing). I know he made every offseason workout and everything and if he wants to play golf during his leisure time, fine, but don't let it interfere with your main job.
Maybe I'm a little old school in my thinking (after all, I'm 34) and if Romo wins the backup job, I'm OK with that, I just want what is best for the Cowboys. I just think that if Romo has to come in and play for a few games, we would not be able to stretch the defense if necessary and we would be more limited on offense. However, if Henson were to come in, the offense would not be as limited because Henson can make the throws that Romo can't( the deep outs and deep ins, so on).
Well, this is just my two cents, I know not everyone will agree with me but that is what these message boards are for.
